I was wondering if anyone had any advice, I have been prescribed naproxen for back pain and when I asked the Dr if it was ok with NAFLD he said I think so, then yes but Dr google is not so sure. Anyone had experience taking this type of medication?
Naproxen: I was wondering if anyone had... - British Liver Trust
Naproxen
Good morning Jojochr,
A useful point of contact if you have concerns regarding medication is your local pharmacist.
They will be able to access your clinical information and discuss with your own doctor if needed.
I hope this helps,

I took naproxen recently for frozen shoulder pain, no ill effects, hope this helps.
I was prescribed it for shoulder pain caused by liver cancer..I dont have liver disease though.
Do you have a CNS you can email just to make sure?
I have a liver problem brought on by antibiotics that basically gave me jaundice then i found out i had lesions left on my liver.
So im very dubious about any medication as nearly all say “ if u have any liver issues do not take this medication” even paracetamol and ibuprofen.
I unfortunately put a disc out in my back a year or so later and was put on naproxen and i was in so much pain i just took them... within 2 weeks i was soooo ill... i was always in pain with stomach, i couldnt eat and keep it in... with month i lost over a stone in weight and was really really ill....
When i saw a friend he was horrified at sight of me and we chatted and i mentioned i was in agony and i was taking naproxen and he just said “ STOP IT NOW PLEASE” ....
I did .. within week i was able to eat ... i put back on my weight in month... i just went to a physio and did it naturally....
So for me it was the devils tablets and he had the same reaction that why he knew...
Thankyou all for your replies, I will avoid it but ask the pharmacist if the pain gets too unbearable x
Naproxen is one of the NSAIDs (it is very similar to Ibuprofen) that is warned against in the event you get infected by the corona virus. If you do take the Naproxen, be absolutely sure you are effectively isolating.
Also, some people cannot take it because it causes bleeding (sometimes severe) in the gut. This is the reason why I can’t take it.
Natural alternatives include Devils Claw, ginger, turmeric (with black pepper extract) and bromelian (all natural anti-inflammatories). And they are a lot healthier too! 😊
Of course you should consult a professional however I was prescribed this for pain after I ran out of talent on a motorbike and 2 weeks later I was in the hospital chucking up blood. Docs and consultant said they can’t correlate the cause and effect to 100% accuracy but they are certain it did nothing to help. Avoid would be my advice. But again, I am not a doctor
Dr No I don't think so. Not recommended with Liver, simples. No anti inflammatory types. Stick with paracetamol up to max dose only. Liver Consultant says so.
I am on.naproxen because of severe hip pain.im.waiting on a replacement. My liver Dr knows I'm on them and I have liver damage . I am fine on them and I have regular blood tests and ultrasounds . Everyone copes with medications in different ways so it's hard to judge . I personally find them ok as long as I take my tablets to protect my stomach too ..
