Many people on the liver site has low platelets which can cause bruisng. Maybe, it is a reaction to a tablet.

He does have low platelets but this has never happened before

If he has low platelets, that could cause the bruising.

I have low platelets. When they’re very low I bruise very easily any place on my body where there has been pressure. even if I hardly felt that pressure a bruise can appear.

Hi eekk,

I, like Fili have very low platelets, and sometimes get bruises appear anywhere without knowing they happened. It also takes any cuts a long time to stop bleeding, because there's not enough platelets to stem the flow.

That must be scary David. (I remember when you were giving yourself a pedicure and ended up being glad your wife is a nurse...😮) my bruising is way less since I have B12 injections and Vit K2 (7) capsules.

Hi Fili,

Yes that was very scary. The bathroom floor was covered in blood, and I had to take the plastic bag from the pedal bin to put on my foot, so I could get to the phone to call her, without bleeding all over the carpet.

I have had the course of B12 , and I take folic acid every day. I also have Marmite every day which is very high in B vitamins, but I still bleed profusely.

When I have a nosebleed, quite often, I have to put twiddled up tissues up each nostril......I look like Blackadder trying to get out of the trenches😊

Yes I’m always getting bruises, find I have to take care even the slightest knock or bump huge bruises appear. And the lightest of a scratch bleed like an artery has been slashed. All due to low white platelets count.

I used to bruise very easily before transplant. Bruises were all the colours of the rainbow and took a long time to go.

I also had heparin injections in my stomach every day due to a portal vein thrombus.

Every injection caused a bruise and so injections had to be done in a different place on the stomach each day.

I looked like I'd done ten rounds with Mike Tyson after a couple of weeks!

You mean you hadn’t? Flipping heck freddy I am disappointed 👎. I mean if you can make Staithes Hill from bottom to top then Tyson should have been a walk in the park.....

The offer was there but he didn't want to take me up on it. I must have looked really formidable! :-) :-)

Are you both forgetting something? “Behind every strong man...” It was maybe your wife he didn’t dare go a round with. 😮

You're cruisin' for a bruisin' 🤔

Hi

I also get bruises when someone had just touched me!! Take care Lynne xxxx

in reply to

We get used to them and laugh a bit about bruises don’t we because otherwise we would worry or panic. It’s far worse for our families who just see bruises on us. They don’t want to see us injured and feel helpless to do anything about it. Many here say it is always is worse for the family member than for the patient. I agree.

in reply to

Yes, I agree. It is far worse for our families to see us like this. . Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
