Hi I'm Ashley,

I've been diagnosed with Liver disease and Cirrhosis, ive been a heavy drinker (recovering alcoholic)for sometime now. Hospital admissions, jaundice and gastroenteritis have been a regular occurrence.

I have been drink free since 7th November 2019 and lost 4 stone (still going strong on both fronts) as been told that being overweight does not help me with my diagnosis or in general health of course.

Just getting in touch with this service as I've been told it helps a lot of people with advice and support. I hope I can be of some help or support to anyone on here as well.

Apart from all that I'm feeling really good at present and keeping positive, all I can do is keep plodding along changing my life style for the better.

Hi Ash Im new on here too, I ca see you have now edited your Post with extra information, I am sure that someone better qualified to comment than me will respond. I have found the support group really helpful especially on the days of getting no where fast, good luck and well done with the weight loss x

I didnt see your original post but your edited comments definitely puts you in the right place. There are many of us who are in the same situation as you as well as lots of members you have liver conditions unrelated to alcohol. However every single person will be supportive and offer their personal experience and help. I have learned lots on this group since my diagnosis and even have a new vocabulary of words I had never heard of before ! Welcome.

Yes, well done on everything. I have Nash caused by meds from my drs over the years but I truly understand that drinking too much alcohol can become an illness and you need as much help as someone who's liver disease is caused by something else. You will get tremendous support from everyone in this forum. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Well done for kicking alcohol. My brother was hospitalised with cirrhosis in October last year which is when he stopped drinking. It was touch and go for a while but thankfully his numbers are all going the right way, virtually normal 🙏. I found alot of help here as his diagnosis and near death was like being hit by a train.
