Welcome aboard Donnadoo, I am Katie and it's my hubby who has cirrhosis. We all felt for you both last week with the call that didn't result in transplant - almost the worst case scenario to go through the whole thing but for Huw to wake up to find no new liver.

Fingers crossed for you both.

My hubby was listed 10 months but delisted 'cos his bloods improved so we are back at the watch and wait stage - hubby diagnosed with auto-immune cirrhosis in April 2012.

Keep in touch, this is a great forum for letting of steam and sharing experiences with both patients and their loved ones - we are all part of the journey.

Love

Katie x

Thank you Katie, think it may take me sometime to get used to being on here.

It’s so hard to know so many people are going through the same hard times as me and huw.

Thank you for you lovely welcome.

Donna,

So important to remember the invisible people, those who care for and carry willingly (most of the time), the ups and downs of this invidious illness.

So, welcome to the wonderful world of the liver.

Hey yes it was just such an awful situation, we can now say we have definitely our done a dry run 😞

It’s been an emotional and tiring time. Now time to dust ourselves off and to be as ready as we can for the next call.

You’ve definitely done your dry run. At least you know what to expect next time. Surely it’s not far away now. X

Hi, I’m just 4 months post op now and wish my husband had joined this forum beforehand as think he would have found comfort on here whilst I was in ICU with serious delerium for almost 2 weeks post op. He struggled enormously with everything as we were totally unprepared, even though we thought we were, but he felt alone, had he had somewhere and other people to turn to who could have told him that, tho not entirely normal, nor was it uncommon I’m sure he would have found everything easier to deal with. Everyone’s experience is different, but between us all I’m sure someone will be able to connect with whatever question you may have. May not always be the same person, but someone will be able to,explain or tell of their own experience and give you comfort at the same time xxx

Hope all that makes some sort of sense 😊

Hey, yes I can understand why huw thought this would help.

Even now only newly on here I feel there is much support, we do have supportive family members but just don’t think they understand how difficult times can be.

Just knowing that there are people who know exactly how you feel and what you are going through helps.

It’s nice being part of a group and not feeling alone 😊

Hi Donnadoo,

I'm a wife with a husband who has alcoholic cirrhosis. We aren't in the same situation you guys are - we're in the U.S., my husband suffered liver and kidney failure about 2 years ago, and managed to walk out of the hospital with his kidneys working and his liver doing some work. His liver doctor at one of our recent visits has said transplant is not something we need to talk about at this point, since hubby is doing fairly well. Our 6 month visits are to keep an eye on things and look out for liver cancer.

I can't imagine the stress on both of you regarding your recent transplant situation. We have our sons nearby, but other family is mostly non-commitle about his issues, so I am glad you have family that are supportive, even if they may not totally understand what you are going through.

The people I've come into contact here are great! They are supportive, helpful, and full of information and/or places to find help and shoulders that helps you find strength.

Best wishes to you and huw,

Mary

Thank you Mary, I hope things stay the same with your hubby and he does not develop HCC.

Huw and I try to stay positive and look forward to our future, we are just now in another place, after having one call we now know the next call is imminent.

Weirdly it’s just made us closer and stronger.

I know what you mean about making you closer and it being somewhat weird, same here. Thank you for your good wishes to us.

Again, wishing you and Huw the best and soon.

Hi Donna

Welcome to the community. I hope your partner is doing ok. We all feel for him and the tough experience he has had. I can assure you though that it’ll make you stronger.

I’m currently on the list and write a blog. I’ve been told it’s been helpful for others in a similar position. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

I’m more prepared now, I truly think the first of anything is the worst grannydoll61.

Very anxious at the moment as the weather is really bad here, and I know huw is on there radar now 😣

Good news about your hubby sending lots of love
