Hi tuppence
This has been asked a few times. I recommend you trawl through the other threads on this subject - see āRelated Postsā - top right (well it is there on an iPad!)
Good luck
Miles
Thank you Miles, will do. Much appreciated š
Many members have been advised AGAINST it by hepatologists, whilst there is anecdotal evidence of its effects there is no scientific proof it does any good and infact some forum members have been warned that it is harmful.
Also, most milk thistle is sold in a suspension or tincture which is alcohol based.

I was certainly advised against all herbal treatments such as milk thistle. Probably best to ask your Dr first.
Hi Hidden
The British Liver Trust does not recommend the use of homeopathic or herbal remedies for those with any liver problems as these have to be processed by the liver and could possibly cause more harm to the liver.
More research needs to be done on the use and safety of such remedies and therapies.
We do have a page on our website on Complementary & Alternative Medicines (CAM) which does incluse Milk Thistle, here is the link:

If you are considering using complementary or alternative remedies &/or therapies always discuss this with your doctor,
Best wishes

What about, vitamin e, choline, tumeric?
