fibroscan : I HAD FIBROSCAN DONE IN... - British Liver Trust
fibroscan
Fibroscan alone is an inaccurate tool. What were your bloods doing at the time of the higher scan result?
Fibroscan is notorious for giving higher than accurate readings when inflammation is present in the liver, so if your bloods (ALT/AST) were elevated at the time of the higher scan it would have been inflammation giving the higher reading rather than fibrosis.
A diagnosis of NASH would indicate you have/had inflammation since Non-Alcoholic SteatoHepatitis is by definition inflammation of the liver.
If there has been an improvement in your overall health, inflammation levels normalized then yes your fibroscan score can reduce. We've had posters told they had 75 kPa - full blown cirrhosis score - and after making significant lifestyle changes come right back down to normal levels. They never had cirrhosis, just fibroscan picking up the inflammation.

Thank you I have stage two Nash and Alpha Antitrypsin deficiency .My alts have gone back to normal 108 to 28 my bloods are normal my kpa on diagnosis 2 years ago were 7.1 at biopsy were 9.8 and 9 months later after fibroscan were 7.1 again which i find a bit odd being the same as 2 years ago.The Consultant didnt want to do another fibroscan as she expected it to go above 10 .I insisted as I wanted to know even though if it had progressed I would have been upset but when she wrote and said it was 7.1 she didnt seem positive about it at all
