After having jaundice and alcoholic hepatitis 2 years ago nearly, I stopped drinking and. Regained my health. I had a blip this summer but have now stopped for over 2 months, all my LFTs are now normal except GGT which is about 60 and coming down slowly. My GP is sending me for a fibroscan but I’m scared what I will find out. My liver doesn’t feel hard or anything...any advice? Thanks

Hi and welcome - don’t feel scared. Be grateful that your doctor is being pro-active with the fibroscan-painless process. Don’t worry about what’s happened in the past. You’ve seen what alcohol can do first hand so that should be lesson enough. Post again post scan -meanwhile- stay off the sauce. Also ask questions on the health professionals at the time as to results- none of us are doctors and can’t interpret results. Good luck
I will let you know, in the mean while have you any ideas about low potassium. When I had my LFTs my dr decided to check everything and my potassium was 2.4 and I went on a drip for a day and half then on some supplements. It stays at 2.8 now and I’m on some longer term supplements. Any ideas if it can be related??
I’m otherwise fit and well no drinking, smoking (ever) fit, good weight, eat super healthy...
sounds like to me you're on the mend-the GGT levels you quote are probably nothing to worry about-I'm not a fan of supplements but I can profess no expertise on the matter. It wouldn't surprise me if everything comes good in another month or so but listen to your doctor. best wishes
