I never had an original Fibroscan, but I presented with 10 1/2 litres of ascites, weighted 7 stone and was yellow. The ‘working’ diagnosis was Cirrhosis, but they can’t really tell because of the inflammation.
It’s been a wait and see how much your liver can recover.
Absolutely inspiring...HOPE!! Thanks for sharing Dean and I am sure this will make one of the best Christmas' you have had in a few years!!! Right behind you my friend!!
hey Dean! That is beyond fabulous! I am soooo happy for you, and for the rest of us here who hope to further improve.
They say reversal to normal is not likely, but that is not the same as not possible…especially if presented with hepatitis (and perhaps very very early cirrhosis?)
I hope to be close behind you.
Thank you for sharing your optimism, enthusiasm, humor, and information! It means a lot… to me.
Incredible news, Dean. I’m genuinely so happy for you. Do you mind sharing what caused your cirrhosis/symptoms that led you to seek medical attention in the first place?
Stopping drinking is the main reason and a belief that I would get better. I stopped acknowledging it (liver disease) I never owned it, it was never mine. The mind is powerful, be mindful of your language. ✨✨
Absolutely brilliant news Dean. My recent fibroscan results went from 20.4 down to 10.9 Alcohol related Cirrhosis was diagnosed in September 2021 ( yellow eyes but no other symptoms). All my routine bloods and scans have been normal with no features of concern. I myself do believe that with willpower and determination and stopping the cause from progressing there is hope. I was told that with a bit more weight loss, heathy eating and exercise then I should see more improvement. Your post has definitely given me more hope. Again.. Well done, thanks for sharing and all the very best x👌
I fortunately had the same but my diagnosis was on ultrasound and mri when I finally had fibroscan I knew there was hope now fibroscan 4.2 scans normal bloods good happy for you I'm on annual checks
That’s amazing, well done you and that will give many people on here hope, myself included. I don’t know if this means your liver is now not cirrhotic, but it does show your liver is no longer stiff and is doing amazingly well.
I was hospitalised with jaundice and ascites in March 2023 with likely decompensated cirrhosis and a fibroscan of 22.2 not long after had me in line with advanced liver disease/cirrhosis.
My last one had me at 9.9 and my hep doctor said my liver has remodelled and they put it down as moderate fibrosis on my medical records.
A recent US shows I have gallstones so I’ve had a call from my GP recently who when I asked if I have cirrhosis laughed and said no and that my liver is now all fine. Who knows…
I do hope to get it down to a 7 which is my goal so again many congratulations. It does seem that with alcohol related liver disease once you cut out the cause of the damage and remain abstinent, eat a healthy diet and get regular exercise that great strides can be made in regards to one’s own health and indeed their liver. Mine was caused by alcohol. Take care.
Thank so much for your post I recently had my first fibroscan scone being diagnosed with cirrhosis and decompensated liver in April still waiting to hear from my consultant. I have had abstinence from alcohol since my detox and your positive news is so inspiring to me . I also try not to determine me because that's when my mental health suffers. Thank you
Sorry about your diagnosis, but a massive well done on your abstinence, you are doing amazing and it’s the only way to a better health for you and your liver. And as evidenced on here, real progress can be made by cutting out the harmful toxic damage alcohol does long term especially the liver which can remodel as mine has done, it can smoothen out stiffness levels and can more than function and compensate, even with scarring. I wish you well, good luck and take care.
