I saw my GP a few weeks ago, with 3 pages of symptoms which I feel are liver related. This includes URQ pain, and also pain in back and right shoulder, itching, pale oily stools, night sweats, bile taste in mouth and cramping limbs (toes, fingers the lot.) My symptoms have progressively got worse over the past 2 years but all my LFTs have come back normal. My last tests came back as normal so she rang me yesterday to say the radiologist has refused to do an ultrasound on the back of the lfts. I've never heard the likes of it! With my history of drinking and paracetamol overdoses in my teens and early twenties and my symptoms I cannot believe that they've refused an ultrasound. I'm really at a loss what to. This has been going on for years and I'm being ignored. My GP hasn't even asked for a stool sample! Can anyone advise me where to go from here? Thank you for any replies x

Refused ultrasound
Hi Liberty
I’m not sure any of us can realistically answer your question. My suggestion would be to ring the British Liver Trust Helpline on this forum - see Pinned Posts.
Good luck

Hi Liberty,
Not being taken seriously, is all too common it seems.
I have stage 4 cirrhosis, and have had capsule pain for a year now, and my hepatologist has said it's not liver related.
You should contact PALS at your hospital, and put in a complaint about the doctors concerned.
I am having a gastroscopy in a week, and will ask the gastro doctor doing it, for suitable pain relief that is liver friendly. If I don't get a satisfactory answer, I will go to PALS as well.

Hi Liberty,
Why don't you call the helpline again, we can have a chat,
Best wishes

You need a new doctor.
I had normal bloods and my gp said she wouldnt normally send people with normal bloods for an ultrasound, but did on my request.
Im glad i asked her to as it shown a fatty liver.
Now i can make the necessary changes.
Blood tests are unreliable.
