Hi all. Just to let you know Max is doing really well. The doctors are very happy with his progress, hopefully he'll be transferred to a ward soon. He can eat and drink now but he's still in a lot of pain.
He sends his heart felt thanks for all your amazing messages of support and with any luck will be posting again soon. Thanks again. X

Great to hear that he's doing well. The pain will get less and less and eventually pass. It's a huge operation that he has come through and it's very early days.
I hate posting after Alf, he always says the best things!!!
Thanks for the speedy update, it’s really good to hear. His ‘false starts’ got to all of us. You must be feeling so relieved, send him our best wishes, and let him push the button for the morphine!!! Andy and samantha.
Brilliant update! Mrs. Maxey, as we always tell our HU family--take care of yourself (and Maxey too) but do take time to rest and try and eat sensibly beyond the hospital cafe. Please let Maxey know we are thinking of him and sending healing thoughts across the Atlantic pond. Cheers, Kev and Liz in Canada
I am so happy for you. When I had my transplant I was out of it for several days and I’m sure I have never thanked everyone who sent their wishes. However I was aware that I had been given a fantastic gift. The pain will lessen and although he might feel unable to to anything give him 6 months and he will be really surprised!
Hope you make a good recovery and are home with your family soonX

Hi Mrs Maxey and may I say what a WONDERFUL way to start a morning here on Todd ward reading bout his progress. I'm up n down the ward myself all the time now transplanted 26 Oct n delight in seeing the daily change in my fellow patients, if ye spot me pink dressing gown rosy red cheeks give me a holler n drop in for a yarn if passing xx much love Eilish and as the others say keep looking after yourself I have started to boss darling hubby about the need for him to rest and eat well so I'm DEFINITELY getting back to normal. Maxey, bless him, and YOU will be amazed at how every day brings some degree of improvement and changes for the better. I'm mostly pain free only 8 full days post op, wee paracetamol every now n then but that's to be expected..hopefully, God willing, Monday or Tuesday will see me back to rainy Belfast n boy will I have a story to tell the world then about the Angel's on earth involved in every aspect of liver care. Love n light Eilish xxx
Hi Mr and Mrs Maxey wonderful news MR is doing well and you must be feeling a lot more relaxed now.so good to hear things are now going well for you both ,sending big hugs to you both xx
Just a quick update, as requested by him I’ve just had the ultimate pleasure and honour of meeting him and shaking his hand, despite his pain he is looking great, in great spirits, pain aside and has asked me to update you all too of his thanks and to tell his darling family I’m quite lirerallyin the words of the song “2 doors down and laughing and having a PARRRTTTRYYYYYY” well not a literal PARTY as such I’ve still got a raging red scar on my abdomen after all lol but I’m here if youse need me for a hug, some words of comfort or simply to see the absolute difference a week can make to a recovering recipient, so, Mrs Maxxy and co, feel free to call, always happy to chat to fellow member and their family. I have told MAXEY he has the worst over him, the daily changes will astound him and a week will make a hell of a difference if he is anything like me, BUT I admit, his humility at having this precious gift bestowed upon him made me shed a wee tear of sheer happiness for him, his family and those of us currently on, previously on or to be put on this rollercoaster journey we find ourselves in
Meeting you earlier Eilish was the most amazing experience of my life. I apologise for breaking down in tears because it was way beyond the most emotional thing that has ever happened to me in my life. Sleep well my lovely friend and I will see you tomorrow xxxxxxxxxx

Crying when I read that you two had met up, but they are tears of absolute pure joy. I feel so privileged that you’ve both shared your precious time with us.
Stay well and get strong.
I cannot imagine what the two donors and more importantly their families are going through. But I am deeply grateful for the ultimate gift they have bestowed upon each of you.
Take extra special care of yourselves and your own remarkable families.
My thoughts are with all of you ❤️
Dear Maxey and Bbsmom
Well, I'm almost lost for words to write after reading your wonderful messages between each other which are full of happiness and friendship which I know will last for a lifetime.
May I wish you both a sucessful recovery and comfortable journey back home to your family and friends when the time arrives.
What a fantastic story 👍. Super duper. Love it. How nice for you both. Truly you it’s a real inspiration for those still awaiting the ultimate gift and a reminder of that ecstatic time for those of us lucky enough to have also been in the same boat.
And here’s hoping that all of you still awaiting that boat that it arrives soon as well.
Hope it becomes a small wee reality Maxey before Eilish goes home ! Maybe a cup of tea and lunch together 😁 I'm sure the hospital could arrange it !🍽☕🎈

Oh get a room you two - hmm, hang on, you did, just different ones!!! Well that was so bloody lovely for both of you, what a fantastic way to start recovery. I’ll bet the physio is delighted you two met, such an encouragement to step out on the ward!!
Well done both of you, and keep up your recovery. Delighted for both of you. Andy.
Maxey666 and Bbsmom, you two sound like the perfect team to encourage more people to donate organs.
If the donor's families could read what you both have written, I think they'd be pleased to have had a part in helping you stay the wonderful people you are. Love and respect to you both and best wishes for going from strength to strength. xx
