Hi all, just been to my GP who tells me my cholesterol is high. Can't understand why as I eat a good diet of oily fish, salads, fruit, veg, small amounts of cheese, yogurts, no alcohol, lots of water. Very rarely eat processed foods or fats or red meats. Could it be anything to do with the urso? Never had high cholesterol before taking it. Doest anyone else have this problem?
Pbs & cholesterol : Hi all, just been to... - British Liver Trust
Pbs & cholesterol
Spanishnan - high cholesterol is common with PBC. Robert is the one to give you chapter and verse, but I was told that this issue relates to our liver's difficulty processing fat and as a result, more fat is circulating in the blood. This does not necessarily correlate with greater atherosclerosis (risk to your arteries), but your doctor will look at your individual situation in respect of that risk. Did you get a break down of types? Is your HDL significantly higher than LDL? It would be worth your while to message Robert. And don't worry about it. x
Thanks for your reply, this makes sense now and I understand why I have a high cholesterol. My HDL is 130 and LDL 140. Not sure what this means but will message Robert.
Spanishnan - good plan. Take care. We had a lot of rain and cold wind here lately....
