Should I be concerned about a high advanced liver fibrosis ELF test?

Hello 👋 new here and worrying.

I have Crohn’s disease and have 8 weekly infusions my ALT levels have been rising and are around 200, my nurse did the liver fibrosis blood test and all she has told me is it’s come back high and referred me to a Hepatology department with a consultant in a few weeks.. that all I know. I’ve been away in holiday and had a dull ache upper right abdomen that’s just felt annoying, since returning home from holiday it’s more of a stabbing pain and can feel it in my back, I look 9 months pregnant. I had previous raised levels 2 years ago with a different Crohn’s drug. Should I be concerned? Don’t really know what I meant to do to help myself, just phoned out of hours and waiting for a doctor to call as the pain is strong.

Is this a normal sort of pain to experience with liver issues?

What does a high ELF score mean?

Sorry if the questions sound stupid, I just have no clue.

Thanks in advance

Hi Isabelle, your Doctor is the best person to help you, don’t Google it as you will scare yourself silly, like I did. I had a high ELF score and have lowered it into the normal range by eating healthily and exercising and losing weight. If you don’t already do that, I would recommend starting. I don’t know anything about Crohns sorry. By the time I saw my hepatologist I had already helped myself. Try not to worry and the very best of luck, Owlie

Hi

Did out of hours get back to you. I have Nash with fibrosis and it is painful, it's so large it has stretched the capsule around it which causes the pain. I have other painful conditions too. My son has Crohn's disease, has infusions of infliximab every 8 weeks, he does eat healthily and doesn't drink alcohol very often. Please let us know how you got on. Take care Lynne

Hello, currently in hospital as the pain got very bad they think it’s not actually my liver causing this pain but Costochondritis as it hurts when’s the doctor was pressing on my ribs. My liver alt levels are the same as two weeks ago and they are not going to do a scan as I’m seeing Hepatology in 2.5 weeks. Had morphine which has helped a lot and think I will get out in the morning with painkillers etc. Guess I won’t know till I see Hepatology what’s going on. JuY glad to get some relief.. thank you all for your helpful posts, helps to know people are there for support.

Many thanks

Laura
