Pantoprazole and swelling

Have any of you experienced swelling in the feet/ankles while taking Pantoprazole? Fiancé started taking it twice a day on March 15th and the last 4 days or so he has been experiencing swelling in mainly his right foot. I read that swelling is a possible side effect. Just wondering if any of you had the same issue with it. I will be calling his GI doctor Monday morning. Thank you.

Thank you very much Lynne! He slept in today, just woke up about an hour ago and the swelling in his foot when down a lot. It’s just a bit puffy now. Gonna keep an eye out and worry until it annoys the hell out of him haha thank you again ♥️

Hello, my farther is also given Pantocid 40mg (Pantoprazole). He took it for 4 days and I did notice swelling in his right feet and very minor in left. As you said, it does have this side effect. There was another tablet of Lafutidine 10mg which was earlier given serves the same purpose. Personally I feel it was better but my father complained about hard stool. And his doctor who did his banding changed it to Pantocid. With liver cirrhosis, it’s just hard to decide if side effects are due to disease itself or medicine causes it. I wish him well and you to keep hope and Faith.

Thank you for your reply, I was hoping (sorry) that someone else experienced it too. He didn’t take any Pantoprazole yesterday and I had him take his fluid pills. I probably should have waited until I talked to the doctor but the swelling was scaring the hell out of me. I’m going to ask if they can prescribe a different medicine than Pantoprazole. I hope your father is doing well!
