Well you have said it yourself, not taking the water tablets is going to cause you to swell up, believe me spending time in the bathroom for a few hours is better than the alternative, which is getting so full of water you can't walk, breathe, eat and then weekly or twice weekly drains
4 hours wee weeing on the dunny is nothing compared to the consequences of not taking your tablets as directed by your doctor.
Cheers,
Brett
jojo and Brett are right. WHAT are you thinking? You're only cheating yourself, not the doctor. And you are the one who will suffer. If you believe having to visit the loo multiple times is too difficult, imagine having your legs swell up to elephant size. That's the road you'll be walking. Oh, I forgot. You WON'T be walking because you will be lucky if you can even get out of bed.
I agree. And 4 hours on the dunny? How much liquid are you drinking in 24 hours. It should be between 1.25 litres and 1.5 litres .
p.s. As for the leg ulcer, you're really playing with fire, bluemoon2. You could very easily lose your leg if you don't take care of yourself. As for "doing your head in", read up on hepatic encephalopathy.
Thanks thistle your right about my leg circulation is not at it's best, I have mild encepalopathy and the toxins are the cause,I will start taking water tabs every day, there is one item I stopped taking and I refuse to take any more...Lactose,was horrendous.thanks qgain.
Lactose is something you HAVE to take. It gets rid of the ammonia in your body and stops hepatic Encephalopathy. You should also be on rifixamin for Encephalopathy. It is a must evil but not taking lactose can lead to coma and death. Is that blunt enough for you? Sorry about that lol.
Cheers,
Brett
Cheers Brett like the honesty,l'm on rifaxamin my encephalopathy is mild so the way I look at it is the toxin build up is not massive just a small amount of toxicity, I can live with that I have told doctors that I have stopped taken it and nothing was said,so fingers crossed cheers.
Just had codine for leg ulcer, brings on sleep, can see another addiction coming if I'm not careful,nt.
Ohhh yeah, i know about that. I have chronic pancreatitis, very painful and was on over 200mgs of oxy daily until the new rules came into effect. Now down to 90. I'm in pain all the time and I found that it wasn't that bad weaning down the dose. It's the pain now, not the high . Dammit
Lactulose is really, uh,... Disgusting. Only at first, though. Seriously. I take it just about every day, twice a day. No cramping or accidents (anymore...) Disgusting part is over and I will *keep taking* it and watching my diet to *keep* it that way.
I've been taking lactulose for almost three years now, it was nasty at first but I got use to it, and it helps a lot the taste got better stick to it it will help you with the toxins. Take care
I know I have been stupid got to thank you all for making me see sense,ta.
How much water do you drink with all that swelling? I know water fights water but I have a hard time getting it down. Not so much peeing anymore from Lasix and a potassium pill. I'm allowed 2 a day but have only tried that once. This is something I truly didn't expect. Bummer.
Hi I drink coconut water all day long, use to be red bull but finely hit home that it could end up giving me real bad times,I can get addictive to any thing my personality, sweets chocolate sugar, salt the list is endless,I am on to grapes at the minute along with coconut any thing coconut.you having problems holding water then or ok.
You aren't alone on the addicted to anything list. Why do you all think that Lactose is so bad? I take it twice a day in tea. It's actually polyethelyn glycol. (sp?) Clearlax or shoot can't remember the name of the expensive one now. Maybe you're drinking the wrong stuff? I can't taste it, no grit, no nothing. Hmmm. I used to drink water all day long. So much that my husband finally asked me was I really that thirsty or was it a habit. Guess it's time to get in the habit again. Oh yeah, it's Miralax. Works well but expensive unless you have a Walmart where you live. hehehe
Hi bluemoon2,
I just wanted to let you know my husband is on, among other meds, furosimide-once a day, amiloride- twice a day, and lactalose- twice a day. He tends to have mostly gas and some runs and does spend more time in the bathroom than he used to, but I'd rather he did that then have his liver get worse. I have heard that coconut water has a lot of potassium and that can cause issues with the kidneys and other meds you might take.
Best wishes to you,
Mary
How wonderfully refreshing to hear the responses. Too many people pussy foot around with a ‘there, there’ attitude. Hopefully bluemoon2 will take it on board. I was prescribed Sertraline for anxiety and depression. I certainly didn’t know it is a diuretic. But I had to stop taking it because it gave me awful nightmares!
It’s a bit silly to be prescribed tablets for an illness and not take them. I’m on 240 mg of diuretics because of my swelling and ascites. I am still able to drive but I need to know there are toilets on my journey or where they are wherever I am, normally every half hour or so for the first 4 hours. My suggestion is take your medication!
Thanks will do matey once or twice I have been caught short luckily it was in country side taking dogs out,but boy there's no holding back, lol.
I was on 200mg of spiranalactone and 100mg of fruesomide in 2008 !! Boy did i know it!! .but i had to take them as i was constantly filling up with ascitic fluid even after my drains. One bad sign my liver was failing. Please take any meds you have been prescribed.. they are given for a reason. 😊
Oh I agree, that's actually why I quit drinking so much water. Used to travel abroad a lot and it wasn't always convenient to pull over. Especially in Africa.
It's pretty darned uncomfortable to just hold it when you gotta go, you gotta go. By the time they let me outta that bus I ran bent over to the toilet. Lion spotting is no fun when your bladder is screaming at you.
