I am back now with painful feet and a feeling of swelling ankles even though they are not in fact swollen.. Does anyone with liver problems have these issues?
My last Blood tests in August were all clear along with Ultrasound of liver area.. Any thoughts please. Many thanks.

I have recently had really painful feet with some bruising on the soles of my feet. I do work in retail and spend 8 hours a day on them going up and down stairs. I've had to be signed off to allow them to recover… not sure how that's going to work in the future as I can't keep being signed off for it! No idea what's actually causing it though as I've had AIH for years now and never had this problem!
happy new year sunflower-obviously I'm not a doctor but this doesn't sound like liver..? Maybe you're conflating other symptoms and coming to false conclusions. any other symptoms?
Silly thing only posted half of my response.. Said i always put everything down to liver! Just the itchy skin and pins and needles. I am off to the lt roadshow next week and then week after seeing a dermatologist. Not sure whether to make yet another appointment to see doc in the meantime.. Same doc or different one to get a different perspective or just wait until i have had these other appointements. Thoughts please! Thanks
Hi sunflower that is myMAIN symptom of pbc if my feet didn't hurt so much I would be fine.ive spent a fortune on footwear trying to help relieve symptoms.my ankles also feel like they're swelling but they're not.been to see a specialist about my feet but only recommended physio.please let me know if you find anything out
Diagnosed with pbc in feb12altho I now think I've had it for years.found out by routine blood tests with scan which found lymph nodes around pancreas.pain I feet didn't start till last summer.dr sent me to specialist who thought I had tendonitis and gave me physio.its done no good.in bed at mo can't sleep cos feet are throbbing
Morning Cazz, I hope you got some sleep in the end. Do you know which blood test you had to confirm PBC. I had Autoimmune Profile donw in August which was negative.. included in that is ANA etc are these the tests for PBC do you know. was the scan an ultrasound. Hope you feel better today. Thanks for your input.
Good morning.finallygot some sleep.as far as I know the only reason I've been told I have pbc is my raised blood levels(apparently only slightly raised) and those lymph nodes.last xmas(2011)was told it might be pancreatic cancer after ultra sound picked them up.ct scan confirmed no tumor.dr still couldn't rule out cancer so everything went to a big conference(I in South Yorkshire) they decided from bloods scans me feeling well(felt amazing then)it was pbc.i have since asked if it is def pbc and they said it has to be.one doc last time I believe has done an AMA test but won't get results until I see them again in May.part of me wished I didn't know any of this.i guess I'd put my symptoms down to simply getting older.x
Hi Cazz, What was your reasons for blood tests and scans in the first instance if you ont mind me asking did? EVERYONE keeps telling me I am fine and its NOT my liver but all my symptoms do keep coming up with liver related issues. The painful feet is a more recent symptom only a month or so I think, had a little pain in feet previously but its got worse. I do have a few lumps under my ear one really tiny one and one a little bigger, showed doc before but she said it was nothing... How old are you if you dont mind me asking? Its my 40th this weekend!
Apparently for years my bloods(ggt)were slightly high was told usual thing to stop drinking(been tee total since early20s).my hubby had a heart attack in his 40s and decided I would have a yearly mot.used to ring for results and nurses told me everything was ok.a new go told me they weren't normal when I convinced her I didn't drink not a sip she sent me for scan I'm now 54 but as you see been on with this for last 10 years
My bloods have always been ok I think, have only got print outs from my docs for a couple of them but they are within range, the only one that "I" noticed a change was in the Plasma Viscosity but still within "normal range. My docs have always just said to cut down on drinking which I have. I thought I read PBC was nothing to do with drinking?
You're right drinking and pbc are not related.its an auto immune disease.ive re read your replies again and really if you're bloods are ok I wouldn't worry about your liver.at your age the itching and aches and pains could be down to something as simple as perimenapause in fact I can't rule menapause symptoms out for my aches.symptoms like itching and aches can start many years before it happens.try not to worry and enjoy being 40.i dreaded it but it was my best decade.have a great year.xx
Keep in touch but enjoy you're life.theres plenty to worry about as you get older as it is.happy birthday and have a ball in your forties.dont hesitate to keep chatting it's been a pleasure
