Well, for those who have been following here's my latest update!
My latest blood tests have revealed a drop in my GGT levels from a 9 month reading of being at around 150 ! February's reading dropped to 91! I know a normal range is 0 -45 therefore I do understand 91 to 150 is not extremely high!
Three weeks ago I was referred for an MRI of my bike duct and pancreas region due to having none stop horrid pain in this region!
A couple of days prior to the MRI I drank a small bottle of Ginger Ale which is not norm as I don't normally drink fizzy stuff. Well shocking as it may sound the horrid dull ache pain between my ribs eased dramatically within minutes of drinking the stuff . Whoopi I thought relief! Unfortunately a day later the pain returned but more in the upper stomach area. This then lasted for a further few week but then eased.
I'm now wondering whether I could have had something moving through my bile duct area causing the increase in GGT blood level readings???? The discomfort under my ribs has also eased too!!! However I still wake some mornings feeling sick and nausea. On Monday I'm having my final blood test which I shall know the outcome of on the 19th of March when I finally meet up with my liver consultant for my overall Results!
I think that it might be the actual ginger. I had a problem with that and switched drinks.

Hi Snoutie
Cheers for reply! Fresh Ginger, Stem Ginger and Ginger Cordial is my ususal daily drink due to being allergic to tea and coffee!' I'm not sure if it was the fizz of the ginger ale or that whatever was causing the discomfort was ready to move! I'm no doctor but the pain has eased dramatically!
Let's hope the consultant can highlight the cause.

Hi Slaines,
I certainly am not medically educated in any sense but I had a transplant. Ginger is one of the things I introduced to improve my health, I read up on the benefits. The recommended daily intake is 3-4 grams. If you exceed this, I discovered these are listed.
increased bleeding tendency.
abdominal discomfort.
cardiac arrhythmias (if overdosed)
central nervous system depression (if overdosed)
dermatitis (with topical use)
diarrhea.
heartburn.
mouth or throat irritation.
I switched to green tea and plenty of fruit along with a daily lemon. I also kept my doctors informed and stuck with all their treatment.
Maybe if you reduced the amount that you consume?
Good luck with everything,
Mark.

Hi Snoutie
Currently peddling away at the gym as I write! Lol!
Your comments are well noted! I normally chop up one piece of stem ginger more or less daily which could be to much as per your comment! I'll discuss this with consultant as you may have a valid point. However I do feel much better now since the ginger ale incident ! The discomfort under my ribs which I had forever and even before my very first routine blood test for dizzy spells has eased! Weird I know !
Thanks for your interest and recommendations ! I will keep you updated......

Good luck with the peddling, I am still dog walking, albeit getting further. A point though, it was the ginger ale that made me feel uncomfortable.

Really weird when the ginger ale possibly relieved the symptoms!
Hope you enjoyed your walk with Albeit!

Hi All
Well this morning woke feeling slightly nausea with the return of my tender upper abdomen plus niggly discomfort under right rib! Errr. Roll on the 19th of March when I see the liver consultant! 19 days and counting!
Hi Slaines,
This may be an odd question, but, did you let your doctors know about the ginger that you take and how much? We often forget to let our doctors know about things we take/eat that have medicinal properties -of course they often don't ask- I try to let my husband's doctors know what he takes so they can get a full picture and let us know if something he takes might not be best for him.
If the small bottle of gingerale helped once it might again - you can always call the doctor's office and ask for their input.
Best wishes,
Mary

Thank you Mncold! I've also taken your comment on board and will make a contact with my GP for advice on the ginger side of things!
