Take advice from a second doctor who specialises in Gallbladders. Everyone here can give helpful advice but it is a Liver forum.

Thank you for your advice

Hi Dbz26

Welcome to the forum.

Here is our information on gallstones;

britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

We would suggest that due to the symptoms you have listed you should consider seeing your own doctor for assessment as soon as possible.

If you have a high temperature, persistent pain (lasting longer than two hours) or jaundice, you feel like your condition is worsening or your symptoms are changing, it is important that you are seen by a medical professional. If your symptoms continue, go to A&E (the emergency department at your hospital) immediately.

Best wishes

I thought gallbladder was associated with gallstones and the liver I developed gallstones from my cirrhosis.

Thanks grace111, it's been four and a half years since I first was diagnosed. I'm doing great feeling great, I was vomiting blood at home and went to hospital that's when they told me I have alcohol cirrhosis and gallstones. I was put on lactulose vitamin B1, and pantoprazole for gastritis and gastritis varies haven't had a drink since 2015. PS oh I have boderline coped too. Again thanks grace111 take care and God bless you. Peppy05

Thanks grace111 God bless you too.

When the gastroenterologist I saw sent me off for an MRI of my liver & gall bladder he told me that if any gallstones were found he'd send me to a surgeon who could do keyhole surgery (I'm guessing through the belly button) & dissolve or remove the stones with some sort of device. The technology appears to be available to do such things in advanced countries. The cost would probably have been covered by Medicare & my private health insurance in Australia where I live.

Hi Dbz26. I really sympathise with your pain as I can recall my daughter's suffering with this. She had attacks of pain and nausea that had her in tears and visiting a&e on one occasion. Her gall stones (2 I think) were accidentally discovered during a scan for something else. She visited a gp as adviced and was virtually dismissed as having any problem. He told her he or anyone could have gallstones with no problems. As his special interest was psychology he seemed to try talk her into depression. When she asked what could be causing such pain she was told that a young girl like herself could have an STI.

Further down the line she visited another gp who could not understand why she'd not been referred and did so. She ultimately had her gall bladder removed in a day surgery aged 22. I would highly recommend you keep seeing your gp if you suffering bad episodes of pain for some plan of action to deal with the problem.

Yes, I went to the doctors today, I was given some antibiotics is the 3rd set since last October and I just had the bad news that my appointment to she a surgeon was cancelled by the hospital and rebooked a month from now.

I feel so weak and upset to have to spend a hole another month...

I can't believe.

Thank you all for your support and your time

Im sorry to hear that your appointment has been put of for a month. if you have any bad pain that those pain killers dont help dont be afraid to go to the hospital or even phone 111 for advice. I understand how weak and ill your feeling as i went through it all myself a few years ago and had multiple infections and antibiotics both oral and through a drip. This wont last forever. BE very careful with what you eat, dont eat any full fat foods creams or cheese. try to eat things that are cooked by yourself from fresh. just simple baked fish plain vegetables with no butter on them. you may be able to eat a few nuts to get some of the good fats that our bodies need. be very gentle on yourself. i had this problems for a couple of years before i had the final operation. if you need a chat just send me a message. I had many friends on this forum at the time i was going through it all and it helped me a great deal. everyone is different in their bodies and what they can eat. i couldnt eat apples without a lot of pain, i managed to eat lots of other vegetables and got a juicer at the time. to help me with vitamins. have you got buscopan and omeprazole as both will help one with the cramps and the other for digestion. im glad to hear that you have pain relief. it will take the edge of the horrible pain. keep in touch your not alone. sending you a big hug. love grace xoxo 🤗

When I was suffering with gallstones most of the pain was between my shoulder blades. The gallstones then caused pancreatitis which really was agony. I had my gallbladder out and it was full of dozens of stones. Good luck and I hope you get the appropriate treatment soon. Deb
