I have been having episodes over the past few weeks where I get severe pain in my stomach/left side not long after eating. I thought it was a food intolerance but cant pinpoint it to anything. Since Saturday I have had 4 attacks of pain on separate occasions where I feel Nauseous, hot and cold flushes, sharp intense pains in stomach after eating.
Doctors keep telling me to take Gaviscon but I know my body and I know this isn't normal.
Could this be a sign of gallstones?

I'm so sorry you are not feeling good. I think with gall stones your pain is on the right, well it was with me and everything I've read. Take care Lynne
I had a severe pain on my right side whilst holidaying in Portugal. I was rushed into A & E
3 days later they removed my appendix.
When i got home the pains persisted. So about a month later i went to see my doctor and said I thought it was my gall bladder. He said it can't be. They removed it in Portugal! They never told me!
Turned out it was a cyst on my liver causing the pain. Nothing wrong with my gall bladder.
Doesn't help you but in hindsight quite funny
I was later diagnosed with cancer and had a liver transplant. Nothing to do with the cyst.
I must say you've definately been through the mill as the saying goes and hopefully you've recovered now from your long ordeal of various treatments and care!
I'd like to thank you for being here for others .
Take care and keep in touch
Love Trish x
Hi Pepsix
I'm sorry you've had 4 nasty pain attacks recently on your left side which could be caused by numerous things.
Can I ask have you had any type of camera investigations? If not then I would revisit your doctor and request one.
You could have IBS which can cause pain and nausea which is fairly common! Diverticulitis which again is painful or could be something else.
I'm presuming your avoiding all greasy and fatty foods plus dairy products as these can kick of any of the above off. Nuts and seeded breads can aggravate Diverticulitis in some people as the seeds or nuts get trapped in small pockets within your colon which then can cause an infection and pain on your left side.
Acid reflux can also cause pain nausea and discomfort .
My recommendation would be see your GP but in the mean time eat healthy! Avoid spicy foods too for a short while to see if cutting any of the above out helps.
I wish you all the best and do hope you track down the cause of your pain.
I have gallstones and when I get a flare up pain is definitely right sided although it can radiate through to my back. Definitely need to push your GP to investigate further as it could be a number of things.
Good morning Pepsix,
Sorry to hear you are having such trouble with pain.
As our forum members suggested, it is important to seek medical advice for any persistent or worsening pain. May I suggest keeping a pain diary? This can be useful to help the doctors to diagnose the pain.
I have included a link to British LIver Trust information on gallstones - but as the forum members suggest - no-one here can diagnose your pain, and many other things can cause it.
Sometimes pain on the left side can be related to the pancreas, and it often radiates through to the back too. Stones can form in the pancreas as well as the gallbladder. I would get back to your doctor and ask for more investigation. Good luck.
Junior took a pain up the left, tail end of last week. On Mon 9th rang the Practice 08:45 appointment 09:10. GP give him Red flag letter straight to A&E tested bloods, urine, x-ray etc. Home with meds and referal to Consultant Wed 11th 14:15.
He has a blockage & infection, with mild diverticulitis.
Pain relief, antibiotics & Laxido just kicking in.
The above I posted on another thread. Having read your similar symptoms :-
where I feel Nauseous, hot and cold flushes, sharp intense pains in stomach after eating.
Have you seen a GP physical hands on. Ours wasn't taking any chances & confirmed.
If similar its serious enough condition and not to be laughed at talking 💩🤔
I called them on Monday after I had to leave work to be told they could only give me a telephone appointment the following day, spoke to a Dr who told me to use Gaviscon? Which i can't understand as I thought that was for heartburn & indigestion....
Anyway, he gave me an appointment for 18th but I had another intense attack of pain yesterday so I called them back and spoke to a very patronising Dr who said I was stupid to be calling back the next day when I already have an appointment booked and to just take the gaviscon until my appointment next week!
I have gone all day today (fingers crossed) with no intense pains but just a slight gripy pain in my left side.
Should add if the area is painful to touch.
Not forgetting the spleen is up the left.🤔
They're Too blasé. I was given Omeprazole for chest pain which turned out to be a Heart condition.
Might not be the cause if it's not constant pain getting progressively worse. 🤔
Initially we were thinking left kidney infection / stones in son's case. 🙄

If your pain gets unbearable then I would suggest going to A&E as it could be one of many things.
I'm guessing your GP 's stressed out with everything that's going on
