Hey,
Just had my second scan which still shows gallstones. My consultant has prescribed Ursodeoxycholic acid for 6 months, in the hope that they will dissolve the sludge. Has anybody else had this medication and did it help?
Kind Regards

Hi sorry to hear you’ve experienced what ive been going through.
Ive got chronic auto immune hepatitis together with PSC which is narrowing of the bile duct which i take 1500mg of urseo for and have been doing for a long time.
It is very helpful in removing or slowing sludge in your bile ducts.
Ensure you take them as prescribed. I usually take them with warm water and have them very early on a empty stomach morning few hours before tea and just before dinner. 2 capsules 3 times a day. 250mg capsules. Its normally prescribed according to your body weight.
Im due to have my gall bladder removed as i have multiple pigmented stones blocking my common bile duct at times.
Hope you get better really soon.
Hi Ritesh
Thanks for replying. How long have you been on these tablets? Did they give you any she effects because ive been told they can affect the liver negatively?
Thanks
Hi there! Ive been taking these capsules since being diagnosed with psc for about 8years.
All over the net it seems like its the only way forward clearing blocked bile ducts.
Although i have strictures with my liber bile ducts so not so fortunate for me I will require a transplant at some stage ive been told 2months ago.
Its been quite stresfull to say the least but thought i’d comment on what you had asked about.
Side effects i havent quite read up on but if it slows down my psc then the longer i live until a transplant is needed.
☹️
Hi, I was wondering if the tablets worked? I’ve been diagnosed with sludge and I’ve been told to take pain killers and change my diet. However I’m in w lot of pain and discomfort:
Any response is appreciated!
