My Doctor, told me that gallstones cannot damage the liver, not sure if this is true.I Aways have high gamma readings,i dont drink, eat a healthy diet, exercise, and only slightly overweight.
Gallstones: My Doctor, told me that... - British Liver Trust
The reason iam asking the question is because my gamma readings have been high, for over 2 years Doctors ask if i drink which i do not said he thinks it could be Nash and said if it is can take years to develope, now iam worried, and thought it might be due to gallstones that the levels ae allways high,i had a ultra sound a year ago was told the the liver looked ok put there was some fat in it .
'high blood pressure inside the liver – this is known as portal hypertension and is often a complication of alcohol-related liver disease'. Is this possibly where the question arises from as to whether you drink or not? If it's a symptom of both diseases, then the doctor needs to rule out one to ascertain why the symptom is occurring. I took this info from the NHS website.
i think the first thing to do is go to see your doctor who will send you for a scan if you have not had one already then i got sent to a liver specialist. i think a hematologist deals with disease of the blood, gastroenterologist deal with stomach issues i think if its to do with the liver which the gall bladder is attached to or the bile duct its then its the liver specialist.how are you? are you having any kind of pain and what makes you ask that question, hope your doing okay and not in any pain, love grace xoxoxo
no they are formed in the liver. i thought that they were formed in the gallbladder because they were called gallstones. but no. infact i have met a few people in hospital with stones stuck in thier bile duct after having the gallbladder removed. please check this up for your own reference. all the best love grace xoxo
once the gallbladder has been removed many people still get stones and there is no gallbladder there. they'r called liver stones
Can you still get stones after having your gallbladder removed?
. Gallstones can form in the common bile duct years after the gallbladder is removed, although this is rare.
its not that rare as when i was in hospital a few times there were always people in getting stones removed from the bile duct years after gallbladder removal. also they can lie in other parts of the body not just the bile duct. they can be seen on an x ray.
You only posted a link you didn't say you agreed with it, the last thing you said was 'gallstones are formed in the liver'. Anyway I'm glad you have it sorted. I have just had my gallbladder and stones removed and a relative has just been taken in with liver stones found in liver duct, years after having her gallbladder/stones out.
Yes, I did read your post from 9 months ago, the first 7 words say's 'no they are formed in the liver'. Not sure where you are coming from when you say 'I never get any peace from you'. I only joined this group yesterday and had only written 3 posts before this, so I think you might have a screw loose somewhere. I don't need to check anything out as it is all still very much fresh in my memory and all the leaflets I have. I would calm down if I was you.
Sorry buddymac48 don't think it's anything to with what you have said, grace111 seems to have gotten her knickers in a twist about nothing. Accusing me of not giving her any peace when I only joined this page a couple of days ago. I have just had my gallbladder out after quite a few complications and thought I'd come on here to see if I could get any tips about looking after myself. Anyway I will probably not post again. Look after yourself and stay healthy.
i dont know what to agree with as some links still call them gallstones after the gallbladder has been gone for years. Can you still get gallstones after having your gallbladder removed?
Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery is safe and effective. Surgery gets rid of gallstones located in the gallbladder. It does not remove stones in the common bile duct. Gallstones can form in the common bile duct years after the gallbladder is removed, although this is rare.
so they are called gallstones in this part that i copied and pasted from another link, it says
Gallstones can form in the common bile duct years after the gallbladder is removed, although this is rare.
let this be the end of this conversation as im fed up with it.
Both links do work - just checked them
Hi, I have cirhossis and a gall bladder full of stones but hepatologist said to leave alone unless they start getting angry. Like you, I don't drink. I have a meat free diet and nothing fried and drink lots of water.
Hope this reassures you a bit. My blood readings are elevated due to cirhossis.
the gall badder is on outside of liver, the stones do not go toward the liver, but go out to the small gut .there are a lot of natural things to do to fix gall bladder and fatty liver. google Dr Sandra Cabot, she has sever books and some products that help and they are not that expensive. learn before you have anything taken out.
Hi, they retested my blood about a week ago and the ALT and GGT were normal this time ....they also did a CA 19-9 for the presence of tumors... and that came back OK too.... The high readings may have been due to severe dehydration... Because they gave me IV fluid that day in the hospital ... Then the cardiologist reduced the amount of diuretic that I take. And now I drink more water too...But on the ultrasound it did show a small pancreatic cyst 8 mm in size so I have to go in to have an MRI with and without contrast and they're going to follow up on that . And probably check on the gallstones too to make sure there aren't any blockages ... So far everything has come back OK and I am grateful but it does seem like my medical life is a soap opera that goes from one thing to another ... Does anybody else feel that way ?
Thank you all for being such great support !
I had a hepaticojejunostomy in 2012 due to a transected bile duct done while my gallbladder was removed 2 months prior. It was a nightmare during that time but slowly got thru it. I was lucky to have found an amazing surgeon in the Houston medical center that repaired the problem and also found that part of my liver had been damaged due to the drains and stents placed by the original surgeon that messed up my bile ducts. He removed left part of my liver and performed the hepaticojejunostomy. I am doing OK now but have to keep a low fat diet and eat small meals. Every now and then I lose track of what I eat and get myself sick. I reset my way of eating and drinking and get back on track. It's annoying to live with digestive issues and random pain but I know it could of been worse. Hope your recovery goes well and you can adjust quickly.
