IQR or interquartile range (IQR) is the range of results from each and every click/reading taken during your fibroscan and the then look at those which are closest together so anything on the extremes is ignored and the average or median result (IQR Med) is the clump of results which are closest together and its from there they get your overall fibroscan result. (This is just my interpretation of a lot of very gobblydegook science speak).
The important results on your Fibroscan chart are the kPa and the CAP (if the machine measured this). kPa measures the densitiy of your liver tissue indicating whether there is any fibrosity building up and CAP measures fat content.

Sorry - for some reason Katie’s reply didn’t show when I wrote mine. Her’s is much better!
Thank you for that I think I understand it now, my IQR/med reading was 28% so not sure if that's good or bad. At least it's clearer now.
What was your kPa - that's the important reading?
My kpa was6.9, IQR 1.9kpa and IQR/med 28% success rate 53%. Because of my ribs being close together ??? the nurse found it difficult getting the readings. I know 6.9 is on the high but I wasn't sure what the rest meant. Thank you for your advise.
I have a reading of 38 kpa and I confirmed don't have cirrhosis
Yes Katie is right. But keep in mind inflammation from hepatitis will raise kpa sometimes quite significantly
Hi Pat - IQR is a mathematical term and not a medical reading.
Interquartile range shows the spread of readings. A lower percentage is generally better.
