Ascities, is it esld?

An ex friend has untreated hep c, cirrhosis, ascities, dark brown urine, waxy skin and chronic leukemia. He also is homeless and drinks daily. His gf is alcoholic and doesn't help him in the sense of recovery, housing etc.

Aprrox 8 months ago, he started getting ascities. It occurred more than once. He was denied harvoni because he won't quit drinking. They live in a tent, and I assume have a soup kitchen diet. When I saw him 3 months back, he just looked waxy skin. Weathered, but had energy, and constantly exercises, due to homelessness. I am asking: w the onset of ascities, and other factors, should he have not long to live? Does blood cancer effect the liver? We had a fallout, and I wonder if its time to wish him well. He did me very wrong, but if he is dying. I assume thats what's happening. Any thoughts

Cirrhosis itself is considered end stage liver disease - with complications such as ascites it would be termed decompensated cirrhosis and is a very advanced stage of the condition. For guidance on the various symptoms which determine levels of cirrhosis have a look at the British Liver Trust page on cirrhosis :- britishlivertrust.org.uk/li... It would appear your friend is very seriously poorly.

Thank you my friend. He had lots of strength and energy when I saw him. He's very scruffy tough street fighter. I will read the link.
