Hi and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear your mums not well. I’m also on the waiting list for a liver transplant. What transplant hospital is your mum under. I’m at Addenbrooks and they have been marvellous. Speaking to different people on the forum I think all the transplant centers are. If there’s anything you would like to know feel free to message me, and will help if I can. Take care

Hi, I think mum will be transferred to Addenbrookes actually. Only found out last night about the transplant, hopefully know some more details later or tomorrow. Thanks so much for your quick reply.

We’ve been told that by so many people. If she goes there she’ll be in the best place

Wherever she goes she will be having the best care. At the moment this is all very new to you and it will take a while to get your head around it. When she goes to see the consultant make sure someone goes with her. Two heads are better than one, write down any questions you would like to ask and take a note book into the appointment with you. I find this helps me. Xx

Hello Naomi

Welcome to the group. I had a transplant 14 months ago. It has completely changed my life. It’s been a bit up and down with little infections but hey, that’s such a small price to pay for feeling great. I hope it all goes well.

Dear Naomi,

It is such a shock when you are told something as life changing as needing a liver transplant.

There is some information on the Trust website with regard to Liver Transplant. Here is the link

britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

The transplant coordinators at all transplant centres will be able to give you lots of information and support and if your mother is going to be at the hospital named there is a support group there : alta.org.uk/

Hope everything goes well for you and your mother.

regards

Hi, what area does your mum liv in and where was she assessed for transplant? Her transplant coordinators may be able to assist also. I was transplanted 6 weeks ago at Kings, London which has its own online and offline support system. 😊

I had my transplant at Addenbrooks who have been brilliant 3 years ago. Liver never been a problem since and I am now seen every 6 months. I had to have a week as an inpatient prior to transplant for assessment of my suitability for transplant then waited 7 months for the transplant. Think of it like the beginning not the end good luck xx

Hi as above addenbrooks are fantastic my wife had a transplant 2 years ago, there normally are a couple of more meetings then she will be put on the list my wife was in very quick about 3 months but i think others can wait about a year my wife had 3 calls where the transplant did not happen then the 4th one happened, they have to get you in and ready before they have fully checked the new liver so keep the transplant time down, my wife had quite a bad time with hers but they were great sorted everything out and she is now back to how she used to be before the failier ruined her life.

I know it is a very big thing for you to take in but they have done loads and loads of these transplants and are now very good at them try and look to the positive outcome this will give her normal life back again
