How can we help souixzie ?
Hi Siouxzie, have you stopped drinking? That's step one in prolonging the life span of your liver. There are other things too you can do to help your liver and you can find information on the BLT site at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/li... Eating well, cutting out processed food, reducing salt, sugar and fats, less fizzy drinks and more exercise together with eating little and often with good sources of protein and carbohydrate will help you keep your muscle and feel better.
Good sign is your liver is currently compensated, if it were decompensated you'd be far more poorly. If you can get and remain dry then you're liver can last you many more years yet and if the need arose for transplant you'd be in a much better place to be listed and perhaps transplanted.
If you continue to drink then yes, i'd agree with your doctor your liver will only get worse and worse and you only need to hear the stories of those loved ones on here who have recently or are currently sitting by loved ones beds as they take their last breaths to know that isn't any sort of way to go.
Please look after yourself, you can turn this around.
Look after yourself, Katie
Hi...same as me but the Doctors never said that to me ?? Are you still drinking?
I'm really confused why they would tell u that I'm a nurse... and alot of liver damage can be reversed.
