Yes stopping (with good support has helped me, but please don’t try going dry on your own. Good luck keep me posted
Hi,
Yes of course.
But could you please give more details ?
You mean diet, meds and monitoring I guess
Thanks
Regards
Sorry I’ve got cirrhosis and only managed to quit when I had my diagnosis, I wish i’d Had more help and support earlier. I go to the Norfolk Recovery Partnership, and they have been wonderful non judgmental support. Diet- aim to eat a healthy balanced diet paying attention to having a high protein, high carb diet but most important is to reduce your salt intake. I’m lucky I love cooking so cook all my own food and freeze some (for can’t be bothered days!!).
What meds have they put you? I take vit D thiamine, diuretics and the lovely lactulose :-(!!
Let me know if you want more details, take care
French, I am a caregiver for my father-in-law, he has stopped drinking and his doctor did tell him to take b1,b6, b12, folic acid or a multi-vitamin with these vitamins..however, make sure they don't have iron. His sleep is good, he sleeps thru the night. He restricts salt, walks on his treadmill for 1 hr., not fast walking. He starts his morning off with hot water with lemon.
Thanks a lot for the information has he decompensated ?
no, he doesn't...if you haven't already or if your problems is due to drinking...stopping can make a BIG difference. Make sure you talk to your doctor about the B vitamins because everyone's body is different. I hope this helps.
