Terbinafine

Hi, Happy 2018 everyone :-)

I was recently prescribed terbinafine for my toes for fungal nail, but when we found recently I have cirrhosis another GP I spoke to said I should stop. I just spoke to my own GP who said that I could try some Amorolfine 5% which is toical and will take ages.

Has anyone got any thoughts or experience?

Thank you!

Hello,

Just did a bit of research and the second GP is absolutely correct.

The topical form should be fine and waiting a little longer for it to clear up shouldn't really be a problem.

Hope that otherwise you are well.

Thanks Jim! I'll get to the chemist then - they wont do it on prescription!

Now i have learnt something new today. I have terrible nails on my feet. Fingers are fine.but my big toe nails are all yellow and look calcified 🤔🤔. I cant even cut them as they are solid and painful ..

Aaaah, well I just went to the chemist, but the lady said it cost £20 over the counter, and the pharmacist said there is no reason I cant have it on perscription. They had one called Loceryl...

Mine is and yours sounds like a fungal nail infection. My GP got me to put some nail clippings in a plastic pot and I got the results in about a week. Get it treated, if you cant take tablets for your liver like me then the topical ones you need to use for 6 months at least so maybe you can paint your toes this summer!

Good luck Millie xxx

Think it is, think is that we have low immune system. Bit like we are prone to flu etc (which I just had over Xmas!). I'm no expert though! x

My husband was told by a podiatrist to use tea tree oil. Just use a cotton swab and rub the tea tree oil over the nail, the nail bed, and under the nail where it can reach. He saw results fairly quickly and it was gone in a month or so - it shows from the nail bed up. Good luck with what ever you choose. Mary

I think I might have a go at that then, I've heard it before. That Amorolfine 5% was £20 for a few mls and tea tree is really cheap.

I wonder though if I could use both?

Thanks :-)
