I’m a 33 year old female, went recently for ct scan on kidney as was having a bit of pain. Came back all clear for kidneys and other organs but a large low density area measuring 5x7 cm was found on liver, radiologists suggested : could be focal fat, cyst or other lesion. I am terrified and haven’t eaten or slept for days :( …….. paid private for mri scan and waiting for results….. spoke to gp who said that nothing about cancer had been mentioned and radiologists are very forward with their findings and that he suggests other things thins was a good sign, I just need some support or to hear off someone who has been in a similar situation please as I feel like I’m going mad with worry and my two babies need me to be ok 🙏🏻

Hi - I have had a hemangioma in my liver for over 10 years. First time it was seen it was 2.5 m. Now takes up the whole of one of the small lobes. I've been told it's not of concern. So maybe that's a possibility? What your gp said makes sense. I know it's easy to say but try not to worry.

Did you have any symptoms? I’m completely symptom free and was in shock when they mentioned my liver xx

That's great! It does sound a bit strange to have this my liver but I can confirm that it's been there for over 10 years and doctors have always said not to worry

Yes I’m finding it a bit strange, the thought of it being there doesn’t sit well but I’ll take this any day over anything else. So much was going through my mind it doesn’t even bare thinking about - my babies have got their happy mam back and for that I’m so grateful xx

Hello Hannah,

I’m 40 with compensated cirrhosis and get MRIs every 6 months like most people on here. I can tell you right off the bat, if the radiologist even suspects it could be cancer they would put it in the radiology report. They are so forthcoming on what they suspect and see that I refuse to read them now. 😂 So rest a little easier that your doctor said it wasn’t mentioned by the radiologist. I know this is extremely scary but you are taking all of the right steps. :).

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! Very kind of you. Yes I was thinking that and the report says appears to be, so it may turn out to be nothing as it doesn’t say there definitely is 😃 thank you again

Our guts & organs may have harmless idiosyncrasies that unnecessarily worry the hell out of us when they show up on imaging. Once during an ultrasound of my pelvis the radiographer started laughing at what she could see on the screen. She pointed at it and her sidekick started laughing too. I asked if they'd share the joke and she just said 'Oh, we're all different!'. Unprofessional or what!? But at least the laughter suggested there wasn't anything to worry about.

If possible do some things you really enjoy in order to take your mind off it. Will you get back to us when (as seems very likely) you get reassuring news?

So pleased you feel more positive after receiving your results. I agree, it can be a very worrying and stressful time when you suddenly hear something out of the blue about the organs in your body. You are obviously a very caring Mother and I am sure you will have a wonderful and fun loving time watching your children grow up. Those times are very precious and memorable. Enjoy and lead a well deserved life. Take good care. x
