Got my blood results back and my kidney function has dropped by a third is this a common occurrence post transplant and is there anything I can do to help myself?

Hi. What is your GFR result?. Perfect is 90 and over, normal is 60 -90. Mine is usually in the 50s but the Drs are not too worried but keep an eye on me with blood checks but i am classed as having cronic kidney desease (CKD) as cintinuous. Low salt and plenty if fluids but not too much as you dont want to flood the kidneys. What did the Dr say as it might just be an infection and will go up again. Try not to worry too much Jo and stay strong. X 😊
Mine dead on 60 it was 92 I think that's what the concern is because dropped by a third in short space of time I got to go see GP on Thursday to discuss what is going to happen I not worried now I been panicking all weekend because GP receptionist rang me to arrange appointment and because they can't decipher bloods I was concerned because I didn't know once I knew what I dealing with I fine lol I have just seem to have heard of others post suffering with kidneys I assume it's the medication x
Has this change been run past your transplant team Jo-Jo?
Katie
Think my GP been in contact with them he really good like that he just didn't want to go into detail on the phone i will find out more when I have my appointment with GP on Thursday he only rang me because I got a call from the receptionist on Friday and I was panicking all weekend when she said that my bloods weren't normal so rang up this morning to ask for a GP to contact me I needed to know what was up have asked for them not to let the receptionist call me like that again 😀
Hi Jojo,
Mine are in the 50's normally too, but it has been in the 40's occaisionally. Some of the anti-rejection meds are known to have that affect. I had a bit of kidney trouble pre-transplant so was expecting it. The fact that yours have dropped so sharply is probably why your GP is a bit concerned and wants to investigate further. When there is that much of a drop in a short space of time its something they would investigate in any one.
Getting the feeling it's a common trend just looking forward to finding out more from GP at my appointment it's the pain what's causing me the hassle lol but it's bearable just annoying x
Hi Jojo, I’m having the same problem myself my gfr has dropped to 40 and my creatinine and urea levels are high, the transplant team have reduced my Prograf by 0.5 in the morning and night but apart from that they don’t seem concerned, how is your blood pressure because if high that can cause problems for your kidneys ,
Take care 🌸🌸
Is the pain in your back? Hope you've not picked up a kidney or UT infection now!! Those too can temporarily lower your GFR.
It's on right hand side of back and he tested urine that's why he did bloods no infection as would of been put on antibiotics x
Hello again , that is exactly where the pain I’m getting is , it varies between being a mild ache to being more severe but always there, my transplant team don’t seem to fussed about it but my gp is considering sending me to a renal specialist , I never know whether I should be worried or not,
Look after yourself ❄️
I think mine referring me my GP that is also the pain you described is exactly how mine is thanks for that got sick of being told I had pulled a muscle when I knew I hadn't x. Good luck with yours mops 😀
Yip same here , I got told it was muscle/skeletal pain , still not been told it’s kidneys and apart from reducing Prograf not really given much advice, here’s hoping you get some good information and you can pass it on 😁
Jojo yep same here. Had anti rejection drugs changed. My kidneys are rubbish. Had dialysis in ICU. They didn't recover too great after. It's been scans & med alterations since my transplant. Does seem common looking at all the answers. Good luck hunny xx
