Has anyone post transplant had trouble with their teeth? Terry says he feels like his are feeling sensitive all the time. Have noticed that Calceos states that long term use can effect teeth but when I mentioned this to consultant he just shrugged it off. Maybe we should speak to dentist before jumping to conclusions but wondered if anyone else has had the same problems.xx

I found out when I first got diagnosed with liver disease that it effects your teeth anyway I had to have a lot extracted and ones I got left are more sensitive now I have a special toothpaste prescribed to me by my dentist just mention it to his dentist you will get more information from them.
Thanks. Already had a checkup since op & was given toothpaste but he says his teeth feel more sensitive now. Got him an appointment tomorrow so hopefully will get sorted.xx
Was he/is he on prednisolone post transplant? High dose pred strips calcium from the body. A lot of folks with AIH who get treated with pred loose strength in their teeth due to it (as well as osteopenia/osteporosis). Hubby has lost many teeth as they got really wobbly with pred affecting his jaw bones.
Are you not sure it's not something to do with Haribo-litist?
But on a serious note the cost of the dentist has put me off. I'm 64 and not working. I'm not claiming any benefits and get about £560 per month from a private pension. Can't really afford to go even though l need to.
I have slowly lost a good few teeth since 2008.. two wisdom teeth, 4 bottom front and 4 upper front. Nothing could be done to save them yet I brushed every day. I think maybe the low vitamin D had something to do with it as I have osteoporosis too. My teeth that are left are slightly wobbly but my dentist never told me about any special toothpaste? Mind you I did have to go to hospital to have them.removed due to possible bleeding
Since my transplant my teeth are very sensitive. I put it down to buying an electric toothbrush as I have never used one before and was told to look after my teeth post transplant so thought it would help. I now use a normal toothbrush and sensitive toothpaste but still a bit sensitive, at least now I know it wasn't the electric toothbrush lol .
