Hi all I not been so good recently kept getting major water retention. Anyway I had a scan and my stent is blocked but it also shown that I had blood clots within my liver I was wondering if anyone has suffered with clots in the liver as well as I have been informed that it's going to make the transplant when I get it more complicated

Hi there!
Actually, this is also my diagnosis..blockages or clots within the tiny tributary veins coming off the portal vein. I'm having the Tipps shunt put in end of month. This is in my new liver, and it's what will cause it to fail as it gets worse, more blockages. I'm on super high blood thinning injections also. It's what is causing the high pressure in my liver. Do you have high pressure or portal hypertension?
They told me the shunt won't fix the underlying problem, it's just for quality of life.
I'm curious, how would it effect your transplant? Do you have blood clots anywhere else in the body? They did not mention that to me.
Sorry to hear about your stent! Can they fix that for you? Can I ask, how long did it work prior to this? And how well?
Cheering you on and thinking a good thought!
Hugs!

Hi I had a blood clot in my superior mesentric vein. The pain was horrific But the dr was scratching their heads. However they found this clot and I'm on clexain injections every day. I also have bad ascites waiting for 2 months now to see whether I can get on transplant list. One of the surgeons said I was to high risk as already having a thrombosis. But surely if it's been treated they would go before surgery happens. Good luck xx
Hi, unable to offer any advice but thinking about you 😊
Sorry to hear this don't know a lot about it I just hope it all works out for you ricky xx
Dear JoJo,
My husband had clots as well - it's something that is common and does complicate things but not to an extreme as the teams are used to seeing this. As liver disease worsens so appearances of clots etc become expected.
I would make a note of it and ask your main consultant about it...
Sending you plenty of hugs,
Pear
