what would a normal by normal i mean a healthy person, result be from a fibrous scan?
what is normal: what would a normal by... - British Liver Trust
what is normal
I had a fibroscan a few weeks ago. My score was 3.9. My liver fat was 0.5%.
I'm in my early 40s,I've never drank, done drugs or been overweight.
If it wasn't for the few lesions in my liver it would be a really healthy liver
Healthy people without liver disease are expected to have a fibroscan of less than 7kpa. Above 12kpa is cirrhosis (varies slightly depending on the cause). The machine measures up to 75kpa so I guess you can still be alive with a level that high, but personally I would be prepared to be told I had cirrhosis if my level was over 12.
Unless its alcohol that is over 19.5 correct me if I am wrong Bolly?
Even with alcohol you get into the 'orange' warning band at 12kpa (F3). Then red at 19.5kpa (F3-4) and dark red (F4) at about 22.75kpa.
People with Non Alcoholic Fatty liver have the worst score, with dark red F4 starting at 11.5kpa, but at least if their damage is lifestyle in origin they can do things to reverse it, where people with autoimmune or viral hep have a harder time reversing damage as they are stuck with a more chronic cause.
However Tammy has done amazingly if you check out her other post, as she has gone from 12 kpa to around 4kpa. It can be done!
I know it's still high but I went from 68 to 40 in 1 year I was thrilled, long way to go not sure if it will ever be normal probably not. But reassuring to know it can improve.
dooley considering you were critically ill and have a chronic underlying liver condition i think you have done amazingly well to improve your Fibroscan score. In the same position i would be thrilled also.
Well done and whatever you are doing, keep on doing it. Next year you might be down to 20 or so!
had my test done at the liver road show and mine was 7.2-I had fatty liver. So 4.5 is pretty good
