Have had a liver transplant 3 years ago. All bloods ok last test, do have ckd stage 3. Have intermittently been getting a musty smell to urine (sorry for graphic info). Not feeling right for ages but with all bloods ok cant put finger on it. Any one got any ideas. Colour is normal and no jaundice.
Musty smell on urine?: Have had a liver... - British Liver Trust
Musty smell on urine?
Silly question but have you had your urint tested for infection ?
I have had a transplant and have been told that my kidney tests are not perfect. They put this down to the use of the anti-rejection medication I have to take. It appears that there is a balance between the dose of neoral being sufficient to prevent rejection but not too high to have an adverse effect on kidney function. Hope this info is of use to you.
Has your medication changed? I have found different strengths or drug combinations change the smell of my urine But as as you other replies advise GET IT TESTED
Like the ancient adolescent, I have slightly sub-optimal renal output because of medication but the consultants have not been unduly alarmed about it. I would be more concerned about "not feeling right for ages". Perhaps you should be menacing a bit more about this when you next have a check up: blood results can tell them that, necessarily.

Thanks everyone. Seeing doctor on Thursday so will mention testing then. Seeing consultant next week so will try to get across to them how ive been feeling. I find it difficult to know whether things are just side effects or something i should be concerned about. Trouble is as long as bloods are ok the doctors dont seem to take that much notice.
Ask a nurse to wave one of those dip sticks in your urine. Can often detect things much more effectively than a blood test - low grade urine infections etc. Also make sure you drink plenty of fluids as concentrated urine can burn (I know from experience)
