Great, but my consultant can't give me a reason why I'm in pain. It's more painful when I walk and is a stabbing pain leading to a dull ache. Anyone else had this experience post transplant? Thanks for reading post
Hi all, I had transplant back in feb a... - British Liver Trust
Hi all, I had transplant back in feb and doing really well, apart from pain in liver area. I've had a scan and bloods all are clear which is
My partner had transplant in April and he still has intern intent pain. His consultant said it's still healinfn so could be scar tissue. X
Hi. So glad to hear you are doing well. My mum had her lt in Jan. she had the same stabbing pain and had 2 endoscopys (one causing) pancreatitis. But anyway the second found a blockage in the duct. Initially it looked like a piece of tubing from the op ( so on consultant said) but on lab test looked like debris which blocked the tiny duct. They removed it during the endoscopy and mum is now amazing but however still has a tiny ache in the same area. The consultants have done an ultrasound and not seen anything (but neither did the first as blockoge was so tiny - only a persistent cons.) but are happy to not investigate further until its gets worse.
Hope this helps
Thank you both. Really hope it's scar tissue, not keen on having more tests but also know how very lucky I am. Thanks again x
I still get similar pain 3 years on. I did have to have several endoscopy type procedures (ercp) and two other procedures due to blocked bile duct. Consultant doesn't know why I get pain either. Hope yours gets better soon, I tend to be the exception rather than the rule so don't go by my experience.
Hi I was interested to see what has happened to you. My husband is nearly 2 years post transplant. Has complained of pain ever since. Last December enzymes rose and they found bile duct stricture. Has now had 3 ERCP's inserting stents. They get changed between 6 and 13 weeks. May end up having op. Did your's resolve itself.
Hi
Sorry couldn't put your username computer kept changing it to carnival. Yes structure did resolve with stents eventually and avoided the 1970's thank goodness. Had 2 pct' s where they go in through the side as had trouble fitting stent with endoscopic procedure initially and it was either 6 or 7 of the endoscopic type procedures.
Think the side pain must be scar tissue as bloods very good apart from anaemia and my kidney ones.
Hope all goes well for your husband, they were telling me I may have to have the opportunity right up to the last stent being removed so you never know.
Hi, I also had a transplant in February & also suffer with this pain and I to was told it is probably scare tissue though no one has actually investigated this further. I hope your mum feels better soon, I've been told I'm expecting too much in such a short time. Is this the only problem she has because if she has other symptoms she must talk them through with her GP & consultant. I am told that the scare tissue pain can take a while to fade. I wish your mum all the very best for the future.
Hi Carmik, I'm still having pain. Just arrived home from shopping and in a lot of discomfort. Think I'll have to mention it again to consultant but bloods are fine just anemia and iron defficancy that causing some concern. Do hope ur husbands problem resolves soon.
HI Tracy 0512
Were you asking me what operation my husband would need?
If the stents don't open up the stricture it will be a major op to reconstruct the bile duct by pulling up his intestines after cutting away the damaged duct.. From posting on this site it seems to me that this is a common post transplant problem which we were never warned about. Mike would have gone ahead he was so ill and we were told post transplant that he had so many tumours he would have been dead in 6 months
So it was the lesser of two evils
