Well here we are in the final week of February. It's the shortest month but even so the time has flown by.
Sorry I'm a bit late posting but I've been away. I didn't take my running gear as the forecast was poor and I probably made the right decision. It snowed as our plane landed and the white stuff was on the ground, deep and crisp and even, until we left. It was so cold it didn't turn to mush, the temperature barely rose above 1C the whole time, yet it was sunny and almost felt warm. Lovely.
On the plus side I met last week's Quest goal of doing a lot of walking, 15,000-20,000 steps a day on said snow and ice. If only I hadn't eaten so many pies I'd probably be feeling quite healthy now!
Didn't do any Nike Training workouts, no floorspace without running the risk of the friendly dog that lived where we were staying coming to help me.
Looking forward to getting back on track with the running this week, stepping off the plane in 10C felt quite warm.
By the way, the picture is deeply symbolic - a view of a kids playground through a fence and snowy trees. It symbolises the stages of a run. The fence is getting out of the door, a major obstacle. The trees are the Toxic 10, hard work but you know it's only temporary. And the playground? It's when you hit your stride and start having fun!
So how was this last week for you? Goals met or chocolates ate? Sounds like the weather wasn't that great while I was away but some of you love running in the rain. Let us know how you got on.
For any newbies, here’s an introduction to the Quest…
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
You need to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured, according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
★ To run three times a week
★ To slowly increase distance
★ To train for a specific race
★ To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like: “I would like to join the Quest”, or, “count me in! I would like to...”
Any questions, just ask! Come and say hi 👋….we want to know what you're aiming for!
Happy Questing everyone
