Hello, I'm coming over from the c25k forum and already recognise a few names. I'm posting here to keep myself accountable and to be motivated by others.
I've graduated c25k 2ce and have run two 5ks very very slowly. I've now settled into a routine of 3.5-4k jog (letting myself walk where needed - jeffing?) a couple of times a week.
I would like to be able to build my stamina so that running 5k is more do-able. I've joined parkrun but don't feel any pressure to run it all. I'll just go and get a feel for the event. There. Now I've posted it here, I've got to go!!

I did tail walking at parkrun this morning (I'm not running at the moment). The job of a tail walker is to officially be the last person to finish.
The lady who I was following has the intention of building up to a 50 mile ultramarathon before she gets to be 50. She had been at a 28 stone weight a year and a half ago and wouldn't have been able to walk even a tenth of the parkrun distance back then. Amazing!
There's no time limit to parkrun and there's no pressure.
Hello and welcome.... yes, I am here too and you will recognise, many forum friends here.. Well done you...you will find, as nowster says, no pressure when you try the water... and you will enjoy it I feel sure. No one was more reluctant than I , at my first one
Which. was, it happens, is a Park Run that Nowster runs on a fairly regular basis...
You’ll love it! That’s the beauty of parkrun. You can do it anyway you want to. Running , walking or a combination of both. Get to know your local parkrun family. Sign up to volunteer from time to time. Best way to start a Saturday in my opinion. Good luck.
P.S. I don’t know where you live, but if you want a friendly place to start, Worthing on the south coast offers a flat out and back course along the seafront. Xx
Good for you RunforMum and welcome to another super friendly forum. Keep going at a steady pace that suits you. Keep your consistency and everything else will follow 👏👏🏅
Check out the maps on the parkrun website. If there are multiple near you it might be less daunting to go with the one with the fewest regular runners there (look in the Results/Event History table for the number of finishers) as you're less likely to be overwhelmed.
This is one reason why I go to my closest. There are usually under a hundred there and you can start to recognise the regulars. It also helps to volunteer occasionally: you'll get to chat with the regular volunteers who I've always found to be very friendly.
My first ever parkrun was the first after lockdown. My most local parkrun hadn't yet got permission from the local council so I had to go to one on the other side of Manchester.
The attendance was over 250 and with so many regulars meeting together for the first time in over a year and a quarter it did feel very cliquey.
Yay!!! Really lovely to see you here…there’s a LOT of crossover with couch so you’ll already have some run buddies here who recognise you. You’ve got some great goals. Looking forward to cheering you on! ❤️
