post-holiday run was great!

Hello all.

I recently posted about my experience running in very hot (27) humid (89%) weather in Kenya.

I had some great advice to have electrolytes before and after the run and it really helped. It was still really hard though and I was only able to make it to 5.5k towards the end of the holiday.

We arrived back in London this week and only managed to get out for my first run this morning - and it was great 😊. I felt energetic and it while it wasn’t easy (it never is for me!) it was easier than many runs before the holiday. I managed to do 8k, felt like I could have done more and didn’t even really compromise my usual pace at all.

I’m not sure if there is such a thing as low altitude high humidity training but it may have worked for me!

As an aside, I was really impressed with the impact electrolytes had, do people use them before/after regular runs?

Thanks as always!

That sounds like a super run! There’s nothing like harder running conditions to make you feel good when it’s easier. I usually run over hills. On the flat? It’s as if I’ve got a turbo in my legs!!! Maybe it’s the same for you. Whatever it is, enjoy the feeling!

🍏I know when I have been running in Canada in high altitudes & come home I find it much easier to run here. I also found running in very hot places like Miami or Hawaii very draining & could only do it if I ran at dawn! I never thought of electrolytes! Maybe would have been very helpful!
