Good run

After a few good nights sleep and feeding up by my son & his wife , had the best run in months , 4k without walking, apart from 5min warmup. Garmin still says I'm in the bottom 40% of my age & gender & ages me at 75 but I will catch up in October! How many 74 year olds actually get out running or even exercising, with the exception our good friends on HU.

I read that only a small percentage of adults can actually run a 5km, so as a runner you are already in a pretty small percentage. Well done for being one of the ones getting out there and doing it. I’m off to sit in the couch… 😊

I assume BTP that first sentence should be +70 adults, when I look at the ate range of runner's in a event race the vast majority are in the 20 to 50 age range, 3 in 70/79 range and one +80

The figure I remember reading years ago is 1% of adults. And that was all adults, but I couldn’t find anything to back that up, so didn’t quote it. I bet it’s lower for 70 +

Exactly!!! That is something I say to myself on days where I may be struggling a tad.

I shall, hopefully, be appearing at a 10k race, ( Monsal trail...maybe near you) ? in a few weeks time, a few days after my 75th birthday!

Where I live, there are folk around me, much, much younger than I who never stir from the couch... and it shows, mentally and physically !

Every run for everyone is a celebration and for some of us more seasoned runners, maybe more of a celebration!

Keep doing what you are doing... accept the support from your family, and get the runs in. I ignore Garmin sometimes... unless it is telling me good things ( ostrich).

Just getting out there, slow and steady and feeling the joy!

HUGE well done to you! x
