Here I am … THREE whole days late with the Quest post!!!
I am so, so sorry...so many appointments with Mr OF... dreadful weather to negotiate, extra care days and me being generally a bit loopy!! But I am here now and so glad, too.
The heavy snow and the ice disappeared from the Staffs Moorlands, only to be replaced by torrential rain and greyness!
Yesterday however, the sun shine, albeit briefly and I RAN!!!! Yes... slow, steady, but I got out there. C25K repeat Week 9 Run 2 complete...My routine of S and F over the last ten days or so since I ran have paid off... I ran easily and with enjoyment. If you have not popped across to the S and F Forum, please do...loads of great seasonal ideas there!
NOW....I desperately need to know now what you are up to ? How is it all going? Have you weathered the weather, are you getting a bit bowed down by the almost inevitable run up to Winterval celebrations? Please let us know how the Quest is going and if you have not YET joined us, it is not too late!
SO!
What is the Quest?
The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.
You need to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest. The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:
* To run three times a week
* To slowly increase distance
* To train for a specific race
* To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine
* Yoga goals
This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you! If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like: “I would like to join the quest”, or, “count me in! I would like to...”
If you have any questions about anything ….just ask !
Please remember too, to take extra care of yourselves in the colder conditions... You are ALL worth it!

Better late than never as they say, the important bit is you are here, we are here, you got out and ran. No quests for me this week, my biggest quest was to drag myself to the catch up corner and accept a hot chocolate through the window, and I've done that 😀 so I'll go back to being miserably ill and hope it doesn't last another week.
Run happy Questers.
Relax Floss, like the runs, the quests will wait, I'm sure it's only Monday anyway. xx
One way and another -stories that don’t need relating-I’ve missed a few days of reading HU. So I have only just realised you are back from the cruise but unwell. That is such a shame, you poor thing. There are a lot of mean bugs around as well as a resurgence of another covid variant.
Hope you and your family bounce back very quickly and soon feel better , reenergised and can enjoy the festive season .
Thank you, yes it's quite a bad cold but we are all on the mend 😁, luckily most the gifts are bought, food in freezer, I stocked up fresh fruit and veg Monday, so only a tree to get and lights to put up, and if that doesn't happen I'm not that bothered anyway 😊.My daughter had it first and she's trying to fit everything round work but she's all better now so maybe only a few more days 🤞
Thanks 😊 hope you are completely better now, I did feel like I was never going to get better but I think I'm over the hill, all gentle downhill back to health now 😀
Many thanks for your wonderful post Floss, yes it's going well, running in between the heavy downpours we have had, and on other days exercising indoors, with the usual stretches and toning with weights. If we don't 'speak' before, I hope you Mr Floss and family have a wonderful Christmas and New Year! X
Pleased to hear you finally got your run!!!I managed my runs last week ( just) 1@5.1k and 1@11k so 2 runs ✔️ , total greater than 15k ✔️.
Today is bright and sunny here and no work til tomorrow so as soon as Mr W7 returns from his appointment to look after our aged pup I shall head out for a run. Coach Greg has told Mr Garmin to tell me that he would like me to run for 50 minutes today so that will help towards my total gor this week.
Stay well!! And thankyou for the nudge to get out!
Hi there Oldfloss-still looking after yourself I hope!.....confession time-no I didn't make it out on Monday after all. I popped in to a couple of friends to drop off cards and before I knee it it was time to sort meals etc. .
This evening after work was cold, but not too cold so I went for an enjoyable trot for an hour looking at Christmas lights as I plodded along. 8.3km down - 6.7km to go o Friday to achieve this week' s goal 🤞.
Hi Oldfloss, very quick update from me - currently on track for half-marathon distance. Ran an 11 point-something-miler last week, aiming for a 12 this week and who knows, if I feel good at 12, I may just nail it then.
Good Afternoon Mr and Mrs OF and Everybody 👋….with a heavy cold (DW says man flu 🤒 😂) my quest is to just keep running and no focus on times/distance and frequency….this setback I’ve had has taught me that as last week I was so frustrated that I was ill I was using energy up that I needed to get better 🤷♂️…. This morning I haven’t ran for 8 days but I covered a 5k without stopping and felt great afterwards…I went for a shorter run initially but listened to my body and knew I could carry on however it was not easy but my chest feels so much better ….ramble over make it a great day guys whatever your doing 💪👍
Hello! Great news that you are feeling more chipper now! Sensible that you are listening to your body and remembering to be kind to it too!
Your run sounds to have been very satisfying and knowing that you were okay to carry on... just perfect.. exactly how I felt on Sunday... although I only popped an extra five minutes on
Hello Oldfloss well done on the W9R2, nearly there!! Especially when you're so busy
Well the weather round here has been frightful, and the heating so delightful...can't rhyme any more, sorry, I've managed a couple of runs, 6km done out of my target of just over 25km this month. Plenty of time left I hope.
The NRC App apparently has 'run levels', so you progress upwards as you pass each milestone. Yellow is 0-49.99 km, orange 50-249.99 km and green, where I am now, 250-999.99km. I'm currently on 992.2 km run, so I'm adding 'reaching Blue' at 1000 km as part of this month's quest. Less than 8km to go, if I get a good day I can do it in one run (unlikely given the weather we're having). It'll be a long time until I reach the next level, Purple is 2,500 km.
The other Quest is to have a run on Christmas morning. I managed it last year so no reason why I wouldn't do it again this year, though it'll involve a longish walk to the nearest park to where I'll be staying in London.
Yesterday I was lucky enough to get tickets for the Lightning Seeds and Madness in Brighton so stayed overnight in a seafront hotel. I'd taken my kit with me to run along the beach in the morning but it was quite an evening and my Garmin said my body battery was only 8/100 when I woke up so I decided to conserve my energy for the long drive home. It's on 5/100 now, does this give me an excuse for a nap? 😂
Hello... you are well on the way to that goal... hopefully in one go... the weather really is, frightful... ! Running Christmas morning... well that seems like a plan.. and a lovely warm up walk too! I have only run once on Christmas Morning, when I did the Marcothon a few years ago... in enjoyed it, but it was very early
You sound as if you are really having fun with your runs and your Quest, that sounds just great to me... on you go! x
If you can't beat them join them. This not so very good picture is from last night. Most people are still walking (or trying to run) on the snow, as you can see from the tracks.
I guess the kid wanted to ski, but he wasn't exactly fast, walking more than gliding - so his father (grandfather) decided to walk med to him.
Only a few people have started cross country skiing. Soon, when the layer ofsnow is thick enough, the machines will make proper tracks and the skiers will rule the road - hikers and runners scuttling between the trees or on narrower paths.
I've got a cold - felt it coming last night - so I'll take it easy, but when I'm better I'll probably combine running with skiing. I don't want to lose the level of fitness that I'm at.
Blimey, now that really is dicey... hopefully by the time you are feeling better, there will be somewhere that you ae able to get out and get a run in? Stay warm and stay safe x
I have been missing in action, caught a bug was out of action for over 6 weeks then moved house which has been a disaster! My Dad with Alzheimer’s has had many crisis and then I have basically just burnt out and had a bit of a breakdown 🥲
Starting to think of getting back to me so starting with yoga to get me moving and a bit more focused, not much but a start then perhaps back to the beginning .
Just nice to read your posts as I’ve even been avoiding that!!
People if you are struggling ask for help speak to people that love you, this has been the worst ever year for me but I’m coming back slowly and with purpose xx
Oh goodness... you have had a rough time. I do do empathise. x
I hope things may be settling just a little.
Good to see you here, and feeling that you could pop in. Just keeping moving very, very gently is good... and then , when you feel the time is right, begin to move a little more.
We do what we are able to... and we try, very hard to be kind to ourselves...
