Tonight I tried running with a headlamp. Probably the wrong kind, as in too heavy. The running became jogging, and then a fast walk. But before that, something ran across the path ahead of me. A fox or a cat? I couldn't tell.
After the run that wasn't really a run I bought a large pear at the supermarket. Coming out I saw a couple coming in the other direction, plus a fox that ran across the some ten meters ahead. A fox? Definitely not a cat. Boxer dog with owner on a leash sniffing very interestedly in the direction that the fox disappeared too. So I was not hallucinating foxes. Or maybe?
I thought I'd get another look, because it had been running towards an open space. Sure enough. Fox trots along, stops. I stop too. Repeat a few times. Then it disappeared into some trees. Couldn't see it coming out again.
I waited a couple of minutes right outside our house. No fox. So I turn around, and guess who is running next to the parked cars in front of the house. Disappeared around the corner. Two seconds later and it would have been too late.
And then I went upstairs and ate the pear and cooked persimmon jam. Both tasted divine.

Regarding lights - I wear a light that straps around my body. White light at the front and red flashing light at the back. I wear it to be seen as much as to see - as I was nearly run over running in the dark once.
Thanks.I woke up this morning thinking about headlamps - but after reading your comment I might look into other options, a d apart from the usual commercial plugs, I found this article useful: runnersworld.com/gear/g3800...
That made me laugh. I've just found some old clip on bike lights to try attaching to my running waist belt. They're more to make sure I'm seen though, as I will set them up in flashing mode.
Oh dear, I just discovered that the dog's owner was on the scent of the fox. No, he wasn't. I suppose the sentence got too complicated for my nighttime brain.
