Hi, I completed my first 10K. I hope it counts. I booked this run in the spring during C25K as my longer term goal. I was doing really well, then autumn brought an injury and 5 weeks not running (peroneal tendinitis). I finally had the ok from the physio last Friday and took part in the RunThrough Alton Towers 10K on Saturday. I had to change my strategy to be safe and used run/walk and was so happy to find they had a 1:20 run/walk pacer. I gave the last km extra running and finished in 1:18, which I was absolutely over the moon with because the route is very hilly and my fear was being too slow for the cut off. I have another 10K in Feb and a new goal to work towards! Thanks so much for this forum. It has really helped me.
Hiya Mummycav , it's fair to say I've been more active with my running than with keeping up with the forum activity.
A couple of weeks ago I drove to Dulwich Park which is well known for its flat and very fast Parkrun course. Since this run I have done a few 1 hour tempo runs on rolling local roads and not managed more than 8.6km. I think it will be a while before I develop proper running legs that enable me to run uphill without blowing up. No hurry though, why rush when it's so much fun!
