Happy Sunday everyone

Just completed my longest run of 45 mins conversational on the treadmill, whoop whoop.

Been watching some insightful YouTube videos on here, thanks guys.

So at long last, I've decided it really is time to incorporate some outdoor running into my routine. I just love the convenience of the treadmill amongst the business.

So my question is what's the best gadget that will tell me my pace and distance?

My biggest challenge currently is I can't gauge my pace outside and get much slower times.

Cheers

It’s my experience that most of us run more slowly outside than on a treadmill. Think of all the factors you have to contend with-weather, terrain, not getting lost, managing your own pace etc… It’s normal not to keep the same pace as on a treadmill.

A smartwatch such as a garmin, Fitbit etc will give you pace information, or you could use an app like strava or run keeper.

As you run outdoors more and more, you’ll find pacing easier. I wouldn’t focus on trying to be faster right now as you adjust. That can come with time and experience. Your breathing can tell you everything about your pace that you need to know.

Firstly, congratulations on your 45 minute run! 🙂👏👏

As for tracking runs outside, I have a Garmin 45S watch, which does all I need and more but when I started running I used to use the free Runkeeper app on my phone. I’m sure there will be plenty of other suggestions but good luck whichever you choose - you can’t beat the great outdoors for running!🙂🍂🏃‍♀️🍁🌤️🌧️

I've got a Garmin Forerunner 45 which I really like. It'll tell you your pace distance, heart rate etc on the go and the app, Connect, gives you lots of figures and stats if you like that sort of thing. My husband has a much fancier Garmin, possibly a 935, which can do things like turn the lights on but I don't need that sort of functionality.Good luck running outside, it's very addictive 😁

Agree with the above. A Garmin smart watch is great. I have a basic Garmin Forerunner 35 for a few years now. I think the Forerunner 55 is the latest version of it. My watch gives me pace, distance, time, heart rate and loads more. And after a run I can upload my run to Garmin Connect on my phone. It’s a great way to monitor pace and distance. You don’t need anything expensive.

Good morning Herbpie. Congratulations on your 45 minutes run 👏👏👏For me I use my strava app I find that works well. After each km the Strava voice will tell you your speed and your pace.

Good luck in finding the gadget that will be right for you👍😂😂

Morning morning I agree with my fellow Garmin wearers - I have had a Forerunner 45 for 3 years now and it is brilliant. It tracks speed, pace, distance, steps, altitude with GPS. It also tracks sleep, heart rate, stress levels etc etc. You can connect to Garmin Connect on your phone and laptop which logs all your runs and displays all your physiological readings which I have listed above. You can also connect to Strava at the same time if you want. I couldn't recommend it enough...Happy hunting!!!

That's brilliant! Great achievement. I have a very basic garmin forerunner 30 which does everything I want : time, distance, speed, heart rate.
