as the old Nöel Coward song goes. Well it wasn't the midday sun, but I had to squeeze in my 3 runs during the evenings at the beginning of this week, as l knew we were going to be having a severe heatwave later in the week. I managed two 6km and one 8km runs at my usual pace of about 7min/km which surpised me, as it was still 29ºC at 8pm - I guess I really am acclimatized now after living on the island for over 4 years. The temperatures started to sore mid-week and I heard on BBC weather that Gran Canaria reached 45ºC yesterday! No running today, but I went for a walk to my local Starbucks by the beach at Melonares at luchtime today for a coffee and a snack, then walked along the coastal path before heading to a Mercadona supermarket to pick up some bits for the weekend. A friend is having a birthday party on Sunday so said I'd help and make some bits. It was mid 30's so the air con in the supermarket was a welcome relief and I probably wandered around longer than necessary! So, €56 lighter I headed out to walk home and was hit by what felt like a wall of heat. It felt even hotter after being in the cool! My Garmin recorded 7.5km walking by the time I got home, although I'm not sure how many of those were up and down the supermarket aisles!

Its supposed to start cooling down to normal summer temperatures from tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be back to my usual running routing next week.

Whatever you're all doing, have a wonderful weekend.

That sounds divine, the heat of the outside and the cool of the supermarket. Our weather has really turned, it's windy and been raining all day

I've heard it's a bit unsettled in the UK at the moment. Let's hope it improves for you soon.

For tomorrow's parkrun wind rain and thunderstorms are forecast, the strongest wind will be in the afternoon at 52 mph. I can't believe I'm wearing a jumper

And to think that a little over two weeks ago, we were complaining about the heat!

I know it's easy to say when I'm sat outside with a glass of chilled Cava at 11.40pm and still 28ºC, but I do miss the English weather sometimes 🤔
