Nuh-uh, nope, no way, no how - wait, hang on . . .

We'll gloss over what passed for "sleep" last night. I planned to run and had the vague idea of a 35 minute NRC run.

But on [EXPURGATED] sleep? Really?!

It was silly o'clock, my lady was already up and out and on the way to the London train. I could simply lounge around feeling sorry for myself or - wait! - I could have just lounged around feeling sorry for myself!!😱 That was a missed opportunity . . . 🫣

Instead I got up and put my kit on, walked for ten minutes (changing playlists twice), and thought "I'll do 1k." That was my plan for the summer anyway: to reach 1k.

So I set off at a fast-walk/slow jog (and changed my playlist).

I reached 1k, switched to a podcast and ran on. I was doing a variation of the route around and through a local park that I did in the early/mid stages of C25K. And what I needed was not a podcast but a different playlist.

I thought I'd finish at 2k, so I changed playlists and headed for the top end of the park.

By the time I was mostly home I knew a little jiggle to the route would take me to 25 minutes. I stopped the music altogether and just dug in.

I did 3.4k, have jelly legs, and feel as though I left my brain somewhere along the route, but don't really have the energy to go back and look for it. I'll try and remember to order another one from Amazon Prime later . . .

What is not possible is (sometimes) possible.

Happy (😲) running, folks.

The only thing stopping you, is you.... and you did not :) What a great start to your day.... I am just having my second morning cuppa!

Thanks for a great report and for flying the running flag for those of us who are still not out there!🤣

On you go!

On to the school run & shopping & food prep & washing & ironing. And then work! 🤣

Wow, I'm impressed. You beat the gremlins and got out, and then the walk turned into a run. Well done you, I bet you feel great now. Love the pic, what gorgeous flowers 🙂

Haha :) Sometimes it's hard to stop once you get going. These short runs can turn into half marathons - almost. Well done on getting out there and doing another run, particularly as you weren't really feeling it at the start.

Second option for a good night's sleep would be to light an incense stick in the bedroom and try meditation. Headspace do some guided ones on Netflix if they are still on there :)

All the best and keep at it. Hope the legs feel a bit better ready for the next one.

I'v been meditating for a while and have just started to sleep train myself, which is starting with sleep denial! I'm staying wake longer in an attempt to eventually sleep better. I had two nights of 6-6 1/2 hours, which is not ideal, but better than it's been for a while. But last night was sub-optimal.

That does sound like it's working. The missus nods off watching TV on an evening and sleeps only for about 6 hours. I keep prodding her when the TV is on but it doesn't do much good. Other than her getting annoyed and giving me a row :)Hope it works out for you :) btw, I loved those sunflowers too, looked like a van Gogh :)

Being able to run on little sleep and realising it was worth the effort is magic isn't it?

Yes! I'm trying to keep my eyes on the prize. Right now I am knackered, but compared to a couple of months ago, my stamina has improved massively. I'm really hoping this is short term pain. If I can crack the sleep (after a lifetime of not doing so🤣) things will really start looking up!

love it when a run turns out much better than you thought it would!

So many of us have sleep problems, it really is horrid. So easy to not go out because of tiredness, well done for making that effort 👍
