Good Morning Questers...

Here I am... somewhat late, but the whole system on the forums has been a tad weird over the week-end. Error messages, posts disappearing and even crashing... add to that the intermittent internet signals in my corner of Wales... and well... I was struggling. here now!

How is it all going? Are your quests on track.?

Mine is sadly, not... not sure what is going on, but my last run was last Sunday.... daily exercise routines ongoing...lots of walking, but the runs... wind, and weather have conspired against me... and my body voice saying... just ease back and chill. It happens sometimes, and unlike previous times, I have not over-thought, I have not panicked., I have not forced myself out there. I have done exactly what that voice that does not use words said. I eased back and relaxed.

I do know, from reading all your posts, that many, many of you are well into the Quest, finding new strengths, new routes, new pace, or simply meeting the targets you have set for yourself, for each run. It does make for extremely inspirational reading, and for those of us, who are not, for whatever reason getting the runs in, is so motivational and reassuring.

If you are reading this, but have not joined us yet, then do please consider it...:)

So:

What is the Quest?

The aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the quest period. The quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

You need please, to be a C25K Graduate before joining the quest. The reason for this is that; pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn’t want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

♦️ To run three times a week.

♦️ To slowly increase distance.

♦️ To train for a specific race.

♦️ To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine.

This is a personal challenge so it’s completely up to you!

If you want to join all you have to do is comment below with something like:

“I would like to join the quest “ or “ Count me in “ or “ I would like to”. So come and join us ….it doesn’t matter when you come on board.

So let us know how it is all going please... successes, setbacks or just easing back for while... we want to know:)

Happy Questing Everyone...

Oldfloss & The Team x

PS

UPDATE:

Just a quick update... over the past week or so.. a few forum friends have had to retire to the IC because the dreaded COIVD has got them, for some, for the second or third time.

The latest variant according to ZOE is a tricky blighter and is avoiding showing positive ob our tests... the older variant still seems to be spottable!

My daughter and son in law are just getting over it.. and daughter reckoned this one, particularly her cough was much worse than the earlier one...

I am posting this link again because although many folk may feel fine and they will know when and how to move forward, it may be useful to anyone who is feeling pretty rotten!

Stay rested if you are an unlucky one and recover soon x

I think I’m doing okay so far! I ran three times last week without it having too much impact on my knees. I’m taking it slow and steady and doing the knee strengthening exercises too. So far so good. 🤞hopefully it’ll stay that way. Hope everyone has had a good week too 🙂

Thanks for the new Quest post! It’s been a bit of a quest to get posts to go up and stay up at the moment! Hopefully it’ll be a better week for your runs too, but as a very wise person told me, runs are patient and they wait for you. They’ll be ready for you when you are. Sometimes life just makes that tricky and we’ve got to be really nice to ourselves.

I’ve had a good week of questing. I’m still following the NRC plan. The tech problems from the site must have spread to my phone because I couldn’t get the speed run to play ball. I ended up doing an impromptu hill run straight up and down Grand Old Duke of York style. That was actually a really fun run. I reran couch to 5k week 4 run 3 as a chilled run and today I snuck in my long run. Technically I missed running three times this week by a day but I’m not bothered about that. I hit 8 miles! Felt really great. Looking ahead to next week, I’m supposed to be running 15km and that feels like too much. I think I’ll either repeat 8 miles, run a 10k or go for the 5k PB attempt I’ve been threatening to do for a while. I’ll see how the week goes.

No swim but did a bonus extra couple of Pilates classes so that’s fine. I’m also doing Zumba totally normal now too once a week, Strength is going well with some increase in the weights I’m using. Physio review tomorrow so I think I’m in line for a fist bump!

This weeks’ goals? Same again!

Follow NRC HM plan running three times a week

One Pilates and one swim

Two strength sessions

Have a great week everyone! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Hello... yes...what a blinking time we are having with the posts right now... they definitely have a bug!

You are having a good time...some excellent runs... a perfectly happy tech free run too:) You have had short and today...you had LOOOONG!!! You did !

Pilates, Zumba, swimming when able AND strength exercises... I'd say your Question is going really well... Indiana Jones, watch out!

Huge well done you!

Easing off and relaxing sounds good to me.

As I mentioned on another thread, surprisingly fast arrived a cold or flu!

After my weekend with the extended, large-ish family, and my proud achievement of getting out of our self-catering accommodation Sunday early in the morning to run in a very new environment, we got back home for me to wake up Monday/this morning with a sore throat, sneezy nose and a fast intensifying exhaustion.

Just when I thought I’d start with my 10k plan this week.

Hum Ho!

My quest has this changed:

- rest and drink plenty of water

- conquer that cold, recover and be patient

Hum Ho, indeed!

CBDB ....Good and sensible Quest targets! There are a load of strange virus and bugs about right now and Covid is till of course here.. and avoiding showing in home tests... clever little divil!

Just rest up and recover....xxx

we’ll, when I finally tested, it couldn’t appear any faster or bolder. Sadly Covid confirmed.

Now I wonder if this gives me enough antibodies for the winter season?

Oldfloss profile image

Good to know though... some variants are not showing as positive... Just rest up and recover x Hopefully a few antibodies will be still whizzing around your body... x

Hi Oldfloss , sounds like you are sensible and listen to your body! Hope you are feeling more like it soon. Some of us aren't so good at that (points at self) and my body forces me to stop if I ignore it. My Quest has gone off track this last 10 days with a migraine, a couple of days feeling better, then another one. So I got in two runs last week, only because I ran back-to-back two days on the trot - 15 min easy run and the first speed run in the HM plan. That was a first, so a kind of achievement there!

Getting over the second migraine has taken longer and while I'm improving now I plan to do a (not)run tomorrow and get back to it Wednesday if I feel like it.

Alongside my running Quest I really need to add: consistent bedtime and getting-up time.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministrator60minGraduate in reply to chrisl72

Hi there and yes, sometimes we find it hard to be kind to ourselves and not take the advice we may give to others! Migraine is horrid and I know for some folk the humid weather is not helping either...

Two runs and a real success there... Hopefully you will be feeling better this morning an manage a short run maybe...fingers crossed. If not.. we do know... the runs wait... thank goodness for their patience. Feel better soon x

Folkylass profile image
FolkylassAdministrator in reply to chrisl72

Sorry to read that you are still battling through your migraines. As a fellow migraine sufferer I feel for you I really do. It just makes you feel absolutely washed out and not wanting to do anything.

Don’t be in too much of a hurry to back out there. And as MU has recently said “ runs are patient and they wait for you. Take care Chris 🥰

chrisl72 profile image
chrisl72Graduate10 in reply to Folkylass

Thank you Folkylass and Oldfloss , I have been feeling rather better today. Been for two short walks with the dogs and kept it simple. High hopes of getting back to normality tomorrow - there is time in the schedule for a run if that seems do-able. I do like that quote from MU! :)

chrisl72 profile image
chrisl72Graduate10 in reply to chrisl72

hi Folkylass and Oldfloss - it happened! I think that's been the longest gap between two runs, Friday to Wednesday, and I did a super-slow/easy 25 minute trail run, the slowest I've run. Just what I needed. Hope to keep the momentum going now.

I would like to join the quest. I graduated (for the second time round) yesterday and really need to keep my motivation going to run 3 times per week and I would love to gradually increase my distances. No excuses now I’ve put it out there!

Morning...how good to see you here... those sound like great and doable targets... many of us keeping it simple right now! I am just hoping to run!

Well done you for joining us and know that yes, we will be here to watch for and support you!

Happy Questing!

Helloooooo...

So

1) Not doing anything very fancy with new Fitbit but enough

2) Bit disappointed the weight is where it is, all in all.

3) Fairly pleased with my preparations to be able to run on holiday, despite some challenges. In particular I've had a couple of longer than usual for me walks, and squeezed in a run.

4) Running on holiday... watch this space. The state of MrGM means I am having to take on a lot more which may affect what we can do.

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministrator60minGraduate in reply to GoogleMe

Hello.... ! Well, enough is better than nothing isn't it? Is the weight impacting your runs ?

Great stuff running on holiday and those walks are always a bonus...

I hope the holiday runs come off... you do need that time for so many reasons, if you're anything like me that is....

We will be here and watching out for you x

questing isn’t going well here but hopefully this week will be better.

I have discovered I have the time management skills of a small child who needs to put their shoes on! A concert, a night out and a wedding have resulted in 2 short treadmill runs and a whole load of not much else!

hoping this a good week for all
