Attempted Fartleks for the first time today. I was surprised how challenging I found it to switch the pace, considering I managed fine with intervals a few days ago. I tried to judge the pace change by effort ( as per the audio guide), but felt so tired with 2 repetitions to go, even though I slowed the “recovery” parts to what felt like snail pace towards the end. I definitely prefer intervals!
I did a 2k warm up run at 30s per km faster than my usual pace before starting the Fartleks 28m session so I was probably expecting too much of myself!

They are hard CP, but they do get easier the more you do. I always find the thought of shifting pace is harder than the act itself, so for me it’s all in the mind. Have fun!
Oh nooo you've gone ahead of me! (And yes of course I know it's not a race).I loved fartleks last time round, hopefully tomorrow I'll find I still love them, I seem to be having a few days of little sleep at the moment but hoping that'll sort itself out tonight
I tend to do the warm up very slow, otherwise I wear myself out.
I hope you manage a better nights sleep tonight., Sola.
I’m still on week 1 of the HM plan - I just altered the order of the runs. Tomorrow will be my last run of week1 and for me it will be the 25min recovery run , though I’ll need to turn it into a longer run for the RunWorldCup, so I get some extra points for the team! 😁
I'm still on week 1 if the HM plan too, I started well, then haven't run for several days, I'm planning fartleks tomorrow and the 5k run Sunday then can start week 2 next week, it's been a tough few days but I'm past that now
