Own medicine

I'm often telling people to improve their pace by picking up their feet a bit more hehe so thought I'd take my own medicine tonight. After a race on Sunday and a lovely break yesterday I often find the next run is a pokey one, so I went back to the c25k speed podcast and ran the intervals and then did some fartleks. Result a nice pb some 45seconds up I think. Thanks sutsha πŸ‘for inspiring me. Oh and much cooler tonight πŸ˜€

Hey well done, and that's a fantastic time for us slower mortals :) If/when I hit 10k, I might go back to working on speed myself. I'm definitely enjoying my running, and your inspiration really helps. It's in that range that's within reach... rather than the one particular runner I know in real life who did 35 miles on Monday as training for his ultra marathon in October ;) Keep on running, keep on posting!

Thankyou :) You'll be at 10k before you know it. I know what you mean about comparing yourself to those that seem inhuman or so far in the distance that they are inconceivable. But then hardly any time ago 10k seemed a huge distance. I looked at strava today and it said I have done 99 runs since starting to track with it which was when I got my garmin watch for xmas. 99 seems hardly anything, such a tiny step, so maybe when it's just a tiny step more; I will be looking at 'ultra man' in my rearview mirror :)

Hey, least I can do! πŸ˜† Brilliant run. 45 seconds is a feat indeed!!! Well done 😊

Brillant PB Michael.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Ah, so your supposed to lift your feet Michael.πŸ™ˆ

Wondered how you were supposed to get Laura’s rounded cycling motion working.πŸ€”

That’s why there is furrow behind me.πŸ€”πŸ˜‚ and I am snail’s pace.

Your flying Michael and good luck with all your training.πŸ’₯πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ’₯

I'm a bit of a shuffler, I saw a pic of me running the other day and it looked like my feet were hardly off the ground and my shoulders were a bit hunched and tight looking. I do try to run visualizing a cord pulling from my chest at 45% to the sky which is one way I was taught to maintain good posture while running. I also think my cadence is quite low, which I get away with as I'm so tall but it would be better to get it a bit higher. Laura mentions driving the knees forward and focusing on pushing forward during the speed podcast and I think this is good advice. I struggle with the bicycle legs idea, probably because i'm not picking the knees up enough.

Occasionally I try the drill where you kick your bum with your heel every third stride, this is meant to help you generate a bit more power or something lol.

Brillant Michael.Must digest what you are saying.

Can understand your height in

Play.

I am much shorter, and much everything really, πŸ™ˆand Laura’s

String pulling your head and deep breath straightening you immediately for a MJ kind of vertical posture, just works for my snails pace.

Must think about your front foot forward 45deg stuff, though particularly when I get this HM βœ… and back to5k&10k pace improvement.

Read something about 180 bpm before heels fly out the rear properly.

Maybe there is hope for this snai to βœ…sub 30&60’s yet with this 45 stuff.

Hope your training is going well.

You are just a machine among so many machines on here.

Was actually just nice to have a quick run where it felt quite easy and I wasn't pushing too hard. The intervals help control the efforts rather than trying too hard to go quicker. The time is irrelevant really, but nice to see progress and garmin said it wa all in zone 3 or under though not sure I trust it anymore hehe.
