Hello all,

Well I didn’t think this was going to happen. In fact I had written it off at the end of April when I was very unwell with Covid which took over 2 weeks to recover from.

I’ve also been plagued with a knee injury which stopped me running last October.

Cue a phone call to the Physio who sent me on my way with lots of strengthening exercises and to return a few weeks later.

By New Year’s Eve I decided to restart C25K on our treadmill. This was purely to avoid the hills where I live and once the runs increased I tentatively went back on the road.

I was back up to 6KM when C19 struck and for last 3 weeks I have been building my running base again. However I’ve been ramping up the strength work which has helped enormously.

So back to todays run. Decided we were done with our hills and wanted a nice flat run. A 45minute drive to Eastbourne it was.

The sun was out, and a lovely sea breeze and not too many people when we set off. The plan was to take each KM as it comes and if there was any issues we could turn around again and walk back.

Every KM felt good and before we knew it we were on the last KM. Husband decided to run a quick last K and I just was glad to finish.

An uphill walk back to the car for a post run cuppa.

Thanks to the HU team for organising especially to linda9389 ,Cmoi & TailChaser .

Congratulations on your 10k, Eastbourne is a great place to run, and you get to see the sea, glad you are over COVID, it's a horrid virus and takes its toll on us

Well done and doing that strength work is a great idea isn't it - to keep going when ill. It sounds a great come back from what you've been through 🙌
