I graduated C25K on 31st March 2023 and have been mixing up the runs, my longest run so far is 5K and will be building up to 60 mins /10K over time, but so far I am pleased to say I have managed to shave off 2 minutes off my pace, first 5k I did in 40.56 seconds at an average pace of 8.10 min/km, today I did 5km in 39 mins at an average pace of 7.50 min/km (fastest pace 7.14 min/km) with almost negative splits, I would like to improve this pace further but that will come with time ๐
Hello My first post ๐: I graduated C25K on... - Bridge to 10K
Hello My first post ๐
Welcome to the Bridge ๐And well done on your 5k pb ๐
Keep mixing up the runs and you'll be well on your way to 60 minutes ๐
thank you Instructor57, itโs true was they say that faster pace comes with time and it felt good going a little faster as I think my running form has improved alot, Iโll work towards 60 mins or running first then after that reach for 10k ๐ hope you are doing ok โค๏ธ
Thank you!Yes I'm doing ok, hopefully running again in the not so distant future ๐ค
Have you seen the Magic plan for 60 minutes/ 10k ?
healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...
glad your doing ok, wonโt be long before your back out there doing what you love. I have seen the magic plan thank you and I have put it all in a spreadsheet (I do love to track and plan my running journey on a spreadsheet) I will look at starting this in the Autumn as the weather is going to get hotter and will be tougher especially training for the longer runs, but ofcourse I may do ok in the heat as my lung capacity has improved a lot so watch this space ๐
๐ Welcome - and well done on your recent graduation! Itโs great that you are consolidating that 5K and seeing your pace improve as a result. ๐
Good luck on your journey to 60 mins and also 10K๐
Good reading you over here, XenaZelda ! Have fun building to 60 minutes & a 10K.
I did my own adaptation of the magic plan (spreading it out over a few more weeks) and got to the 60 minute mark by the end of March ๐ฅณ Now I am working toward a 10K.
And, yes, I am still pinching myself frequently because just a year ago, I was convinced I couldn't run! ๐คฃ How wrong I was!
thankyou ChannelRunner2, good to hear your doing great and worked your way up to 60 mins and now working on 10k, it may also take me a bit longer than the plan as well, repeating a few of the longer runs, but I will work on getting there, itโs amazing how far we have come I wish I would have started the program years ago but never thought I was able to run either and now look us ๐
well done on your PB and welcome to Bridge to 10k!
Hi XenaZelda ๐ Youโre making great progress! Iโm another graduate of the excellent Magic plan, except there was no timed version in 2018. Anyway, itโs brilliant, and youโll definitely be able to reach 60 minutes, then 10k whenever youโre ready. Good luck, and keep updating us with your progress. ๐
Huge well done and welcome!! As Instructor57 syas, keep mixing the runs up... and let it just evolve Some lovely relaxed, see where you get to, runs just slow and steady. do so much to build up the strength and stamina...
You will find as you move on, that, almost without realising it, that pace and distance are creeping up, and yes, ultimately speed!
hello Oldfloss and thankyou, I donโt realise Iโm going a bit faster until my watch buzzes and I look at the pace, and it now feels natural as my form has improved so much. I like mixing up the runs as it makes it interesting and there is no pressure to do a certain distance I can take my time and enjoy the shorter and longer distances ๐
well done on graduating ๐๐ป having a plan is brilliant to follow when you finish ct5k. If youโre more into getting to your distance goal of 60 mins you will find your shorter runs will naturally but gradually get a bit faster.
Good luck!
Great to have you here. Well done on graduating from C25K and welcome to the Bridge to 10K Forum. Happy running.
