I’ve not done a full 10K without taking any breaks in a long time. I recently joined my local running club again and bit by bit my fitness is improving and my times are improving. This morning I ran with a group at 8am to do a long Sunday run. I managed it with a nice average 6:20 min/km pace and did a full 13K. I’m wrecked now. I also met a friend this afternoon and did a 5K walk with my 2nd son and my doggie Ruby.
Time to relax now, BBQ is on and Lamb Kofta’s with Flat Breads and Tzatziki sauce are on the menu. I might also have a beer 🍺, I deserve it. 😀

You deserve that beer Damien after that 13K run in the morning then a 5K walk with Ruby in the afternoon, well done on doing both on the same day After a short 3K run yesterday, this morning I went for a 12K walk in the countryside near to where I live, lovely fresh morning, I saw 6 runners and 4 cyclists during that walk.
Very well done on your 4 miles. It’s BBQ season all year round here. I have a Weber charcoal BBQ and it is used most weekends. It’s the only way I cook lamb or chicken now. I love to butterfly a leg of lamb, marinate it for a few hours and cook it on the BBQ. Steak is incredible too. I never order steak in a restaurant as I’m always disappointed. I prefer to BBQ steak myself. Next time I cook Christmas dinner the Turkey is being done in the BBQ. 😃
Ah thank you. Yes I’m really enjoying my runs again. I always wanted a daughter. I have two boys. Ruby is my daughter and my wife thinks I spoil her rotten. I do. She’s my daughter. 😂 She is resting now. She was busy all day.
Thanks Jonathan. I wouldn’t have done it on my own. So much easier when you are running in a group. But i surprised myself. It was meant to be the start of my 10K training plan.
Congrats damian66 ! I remember your post from last year about getting back into the 10ks and was pleased for you when I saw you did the run on Strava. Your getting back into it big time this year. Fair play to you.
You certainly did deserve it, so hope you enjoyed it!! I know it doesn't quite work like this, but when I do my long runs usually on a Sunday, I treat myself with a proper cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate!!
😀👍Good to hear you've joined your running club again, Im sure it will be a great motivator for you.
