Quick run this morning (just joking, slow run … very slow)

I finished my 6th week of Jeffing this morning with intervals of 5min running, 1 min walking.

It was slower and more exhausting as usual, as I think I am still struggling with a cold which cannot decide if it’s going to stay or go, (sneezing and sniffling in the early morning, but then disappearing by the time the sun peaked out.)

I also had decided to Jeff-run my whole 4.6k route to the halfway point, and then when doubling back only continue Jeff-running until the end of my programmed run, to continue walking the rest home.

That way I got to see what 2.7 miles look like.

Yup, as some of you know, I’ve done the deed and committed to a slightly amended version of the 2023 #1000 Mile challenge. ( healthunlocked.com/active10... ) Amended as the only chance I have for managing 1000 Miles in a year is if I count all my running, rowing and walking. And that’s stretching me as I’m so slow and my walking/running/rowing workouts take so much time. And the daily average target mileage: 2.7 miles. But will I be able to do the 2.7miles every single day? 😳😱😳😱😳🫣😏

Slow running might be good for you and it might be so enjoyable, but they do take up a lot of space in one’s weekly schedule.

Anyway, pretty happy with my run this morning. Next scheduled run in my Jeffing plan is supposed to be 10min run/1 min walk, but I might squeeze in a 7/1 ratio week.

well done CBDB. Good run again . Yes your plan on 1000 miles in a year sounds good for u. I did one of your weeks but made it ratio run 3 mins walk 2 mins 6 times 30 mins. I did it yesterday morning and back tomorrow on it. ☀️

Ooohh, well done. I can imagine Jeffing might be just your thing, with all the walking strength you have built up!

I think I also like the 3/1 ratio the best and am planning to do some more of that in the future. It also works great with music. 3-4 minutes is a song, so one can run to a song, walk during adverts and run again to a song,

sometimes I’m too busy listening to a podcast on Spotify I miss hearing the buzzer on Garmin for walk and I end up running through the walk🤣 must get ears tested.

Getting there... managed a walk yesterday! A tad further and felt easier... I am in the clear. He was still positive yesterday! He is suffering with the heavy cold symptoms more than I. the first two days. saw mine go.

I am very much looking forward to the walking ideas from you, for 2023... and suspect that even when I do get back to running, it will be very much a jeffing situation. I think our first foray may be into the peaks.. I do fancy a little amble along the High Peak Trail, when we get some sunshine !

High Peak Trail sounds great. You’re giving me ideas to visit the Peak more often. We cycled the Tissington Trail quite a few years ago.

Which part would you recommend?

We are not far away, so it is a regular outing for a run, walk or cycle.. I love the trail from Middleton Top.... it is a great run or cycle route... also.. in the week, ( it can get busy at weekends), parking at Parsley Hay.. some great running/walking there, and the scene of my haunted tunnel post! Monsal trail... great fun... start at Bakewell :)
